CHICAGO - Jason Van Dyke was escorted into a Cook County courtroom Wednesday clad in a bright yellow jail uniform and with a look of exhaustion on his face.
The former Chicago police officer's first court appearance since his murder conviction lasted only moments. Van Dyke was soon taken behind the courtroom to meet briefly with his family and then make the trip back to the western Illinois jail where he is awaiting sentencing.
