Annapolis, Maryland is something of a household name for boaters, and its familiarity is perhaps its greatest attraction. The large boating culture ensures that visitors will be greeted by other serious boaters and a lively atmosphere that celebrates the city’s maritime history.
The city sits on a peninsula between the Severn River and the South River on Chesapeake Bay—America’s largest estuary. “Annapolis is situated beautifully,” says Capt. Mike Krissoff. “You’re well up the Chesapeake Bay about one hundred miles from the ocean in either direction.”
