    (JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2019 AUCTION REPORT, by ANTHONY CAPUTI)

    THE start of the new year saw the strength of the secondary market persist, with MW Wines continuing to provide auction buyers with some stunning buying opportunities and subsequently, maintaining strong results for vendors. Following on from the most successful year in our history in 2018, January and February continued the trend with over $800,000 in sales spread over the two auctions.

    We began 2019 with a bang! What is traditionally a quiet time of year due to vendors and buyers being on holidays, turned into our best ever January sale, with more than $485,000 worth of wine changing hands at a healthy clearance rate of just over 66 per cent.
