BRINGING WATCH “TREASURES” TO AUCTION
One of the most gratifying aspects of our job at Christie’s is helping people auction these exceptional watches. Each day, we are corresponding or speaking with someone who may know little to nothing about the world of rare watches, but who owns something that is valuable and that will be exciting to the world of collectors. The owner could have received the watch any number of ways: an inheritance, a gift, purchased at a flea market, or even bought new decades ago with little expectation of future value.
It is a great pleasure to see these watches achieve extraordinary results and to have the owners thrilled at the results. In some cases, the sums the watch owners receive can drastically change their lives for the better.
