Fresh wolf tracks littered the trail in front of me. Not more than a few days old, the tracks turned down the brushy trail that led to a small creek crossing. My anticipation was building.
Two weeks earlier, I set a blind snare in the thick overgrown trail near that creek. Because of the thick brush, the set remained invisible, and my excitement rose until I was only yards away. Sure enough, a huge yellow-colored male was waiting. The snare hidden in the thick willows had taken the big wolf completely by surprise.
