Trespassers on heritage lines during lockdown are ‘risking lives’

OFFICIALS of closed heritage railways across the UK have expressed fears for the safety of members of the public who have seen fit to walk on tracks during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

With railway paid staff furloughed en masse and many volunteers confined to self isolation at home, some lines have been locked up and left unattended by circumstance, leaving them vulnerable to trespass. At several lines, officials have issued a ‘stay away’ warning to trespassers
