Nice weaves

Upping sticks with her family from Auckland to Tairua in 2016 got visual artist Kathryn Tsui thinking about learning to weave as an extension of her creative practice. She bought a basic loom off Trade Me to learn with — and she was away.

So, Kathryn, what do you produce?

My practice oscillates between weaving custom pieces — predominately shawls and handwoven tableware — and works for exhibition;, an exhibition at the Dowse Art Museum in Wellington, which features 20 makers and explores the nature of craft in Aotearoa.
