Niggles: QUICK RELIEF

PILES

These are swollen veins in the anus that can itch or hurt.

RELIEF Dip a facecloth in ice cold water, wring it out and press it against the affected area. Otherwise wrap a small pack of frozen veg in a dish cloth and lie down with that resting on the sore bits. Don’t be embarrassed to tell your doctor and get a script for if things get worse.

SWOLLEN ANKLES

In the last trimester you might start to retain water, and this makes the ankles swell.

RELIEF Feet in the air, higher than your heart. Rotate your ankles to get the moisture moving. If the swelling occurs very suddenly and your face and hands also swell up, it could be pre-eclampsia, and you need to see the doctor immediately.
