IN CONVERSATION WITH Jenny Colgan

‘I make places up or people tell me I’ve got things wrong’

Nobody does feel-good fiction like Scottish novelist Jenny Colgan. The author of over 30 books, including the At The Cupcake Café series, she has also written for Doctor Who.

Her new novel, Five Hundred Miles From You, sees Lissa and Cormac swap lives.

Jenny lives in a castle in Scotland with her family.

I like the idea of contrasts.

In this latest book, Lissa comes from a dramatic environment working as a nurse in London, and Cormac from a rural setting. It seemed fun to swap them– I like stories where couples are kept apart, and wanted to write something along those lines.
