They are clearly taking customer and staff safety very seriously at Britain’s biggest single-site motorhome dealer.
If you have visited Brownhills – just off the A1 near Newark – before, you should notice some big differences when you head along to the showroom to look at the new Adria, Auto-Trail, Elddis, Itineo, Rapido and Swift models on display.
First, you’ll see a stand where you are asked to check your temperature. There is plenty of signage inside the 30,000 sq ft showroom reminding you to keep two metres apart, and there’s a one-way system in busy areas.
You’ll also notice that all motorhomes are much further apart than before, to facilitate social distancing, and an army of valeters is on hand to regularly clean and reclean doors and surfaces.
On the service side, the customer waiting area has more than doubled in size, and the company is ensuring all transactions are as paperless as possible, and that keys are sterilised.
Chief executive Steve Cullen says: ‘We want to create a new environment that makes our customers and staff feel safe, but most importantly is safe.”

Don Amott sells Auto-Trail, Bailey, Elddis, Swift and Knaus motorhomes from a 24-acre site near Derby. MD John Broderick says the size of the premises means they are relatively fortunate, in not having to make too many alterations for social distancing.
The dealership is still doing sales by appointment only, and sending out YouTube videos to potential customers wherever possible.
