HOUSE OF earth and wood
It’s a cold, wet and blustery morning on the cusp of an Auckland winter. It gets wilder as we drive up South Head to Shelly Beach and to the house of Muni and Mylene, finished in 2018 after fours years of effort. The rain clears up when we get there so we start by wandering the grounds and following the first steps of their process: orchard planting, mud piles and brick making.
GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME
They bought this five-acre property in 2008 while still living and working in West Auckland. They started planting windbreaks and the orchard, then built a 10m cob cottage with mezzanine bed space in 2012, and finally to help with the build process
