‘GOVERNMENT DID NOT BUCKLE UNDER LEVEL 3 PRESSURE’

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement that regulations will be eased and restaurants, beauticians, cinemas, theatres, casinos and hairdressers are allowed to operate under level 3 of the lockdown has been received with questions as to whether he acted under pressure and whether government was in effect abandoning the lockdown.

The easing of the lockdown has contrasted with rapidly increasing numbers of Covid-19 coronavirus infections and a steadily upward trend in the death rate.

Shutting down any rumours that the announcement had been made due to pressure from looming
