Editor’s Letter
his is the first time I have linked the “Director’s Letter” to the theme of the monograph. It was necessary. This issue began to take shape almost two months ago, at the end of January. At that time, China was facing an epidemic caused by a new coronavirus, which would be called SARS-CoV-2, causing COVID-19 disease. I felt that this was a tremendously relevant issue and one that deserved our full attention. I was surprised that in the newspapers, on the radio and television talk shows, in the social networks, it was such a secondary issue. Almost exotic. As if it was ignored that we live in a globalized world. I was also disconcerted by the lack of balanced and firm measures from the West. The priority then-in the constant media hype that characterizes today’s society-was the same topics we’ve been living with for too long.
