Twelve years later, Stephenie Meyer is to publish her Twilight retelling Midnight Sun in August, relating the same species-crossed love story from the point of view of sparkly vampire Edward Cullen, rather than sulky tween Bella Swan.

The trick was also notably used by EL James to extend her Fifty Shades series, which famously originated as Twilight fanfic, for three titles telling the same story from Christian Grey’s point of view.

In similar spirit – exploring every avenue of a good idea, or exhausting a cash cow, depending how generous you’re feeling – Stephenie has already published a gender-swapped version of, , featuring Edythe Cullen and Beau Swan.
