It might not be fashionable to say this, but philosophers are in the business of finding the . Jesting Pilate, of course, scoffed, “What is truth?”, much to his chagrin. Bertrand Russell defined the philosopher’s quest as the asking of questions, the thrill of the hunt for answers; as for actually an answer, well, that was less fun. I once was friends with a brilliant and well known but now departed American philosopher who, when I asked him what philosophy meant for him, replied that philosophy was a series of crossword puzzles.
