Butterfly Brain
by Laura Dockrill and illustrated by Gwen Millward
Piccadilly Press, £9.99
Review by Esmeralda, age eight
This story is called
. It is written in verse, and it is about a little boy called Asparagus – or Gus for short – who always leaned back on his chair. When the teacher said, ‘Enough is enough!’ he would just open his mouth and shout ‘Shut up!’ He thought he was the boss of the school and was incredibly rude and so, so naughty – naughtier than me in fact! He was the same at home, where he lives with his dad and his granny. But one day, at school, he leaned back too far, and had a horrible accident: his head exploded like a bomb and out came his brain, including all his thoughts and feelings. He lost all his memories!
