So far it's interesting that the bad kitty is a good and a bad kitty.

A bright colorful picture book. One that teaches and reviews basic letters. I like the book because of the comicbook style layout. I also appreciate the choice of words used for each letter of the alphabet. Each word is not the generic, like A is for Apple. This books shows true imagination. This book could be used to start lessons on teaching the alphabet and the alphabetic principle. Students could create their own list of things that start with each letter of the alphabet and create an individual story, or a class story. The connection to class activities is endless. I do feel it is specifically aged for younger students. I would not use it for my older students, though I'm sure if I put more thought into it I could.

This is a very cute way to tell a story using the alphabet. The kitty is such a great charater that the illustrator/author describe in a creative way.

I love cats so I was drawn to this book because of the cute kitty on the front. It turned out to be a super cute book about a cat in an alphabetical search of food and mischief. I see this mostly as just an anytime classroom reading book for young kids, but it could also be in an alphabet unit, obviously.

LOVED this book! I really like how the author manages to find something food-like for each letter twice! It is a really good teaching book for the alphabet and could be used as an opener to an activity where my students would draw a topic and then with each letter of the alphabet, come up with a word corresponding to their topic, just how Bruel has done in this book. Very creative!

Kitty gets in a bad mood when the family doesn't have any food left to feed it. But soon the owner brings her delicious food and she is happy again until a new puppy comes and the owner suggests Kitty shares its food...The food is HYSTERICAL! Yes, I'm an adult lauding over a children's book. The illustrator is a genius. The alphabetical principals are a great review. Loved this book!

A good kitty goes bad through the alphabet when her favorite treats are gone. What regret she has when it shows up in the shopping bag.Children's ABC bookI like this book a lot. It's ingenious the bad things the cat comes up with. Really super funny and in my opinion a little gross. I like it.This was a lot of fun to read to my First Graders. It illicitated more than a couple "oohs" or "UGGS." I really prefer to the "Fast Tracks" ABC reding we do. It has way more personality.

I enjoyed this book but it seemed a little long for the novice ABC'er. As I read this to my daughter, she got distracted with other things happening and I also did as well. Great drawings of the kitty but just a little too long. I give it 3 happy stars.

Bad Kitty is an ABC book that lists all of the gross food kitty doesn't want to eat, all of the ways he is bad to get back at his owners, all of the good food he is given, and all of the nice things he does to thank them. This book is reinforces the ABC's by including fur different ABC lists with very different content so that kids are exposed to the alphabet and words that they may not have realized started with certain letters. I like this book because it is so long and takes it's time getting through each list, not rushing through but providing a full sentence sometimes for each letter. Some of the concepts that Bad Kitty does don't always make sense to my pre-schoolers though, and I often have to explain certain vocab or actions as we read. Therefore the book is time consuming and I kno requires a lot of attention.

This was such an adorable read. The A to Z format of the book would definitely capture the attention of young readers and Bad Kitty is such a funny character. She reminds me so much of my bad kitty, I truly enjoyed reading it. My cat would (and has) torture me for running out of his favorite foods and only having the A-Z nasty" things to eat. The difference is my cat wouldn't do the A-Zs of apologizing for his bad behavior. He'd figure I had gotten what I deserved."

I love the way this book uses the alphabet to tell the story. The kitty was not always a bad cat but when there is only healthy food left he becomes one. The book uses the abc's to show different veggies and fruits, as well as all the bad and good things the kitty did. I think it was a very cute book that would be good for teaching young readers. In the end, the kitty shows why cats are the best :)

This book is like a Disney movie. Everyone has fun, and there are some jokes thrown in just for the grownups. The alphabet listing was a bit long for the kiddos, but it was just silly enough to hold their attention.

Bad Kitty is one of our bestselling series, so I was excited to finally see for myself what all the fuss was about.

Kitty is a Good Kitty...until one day her family is out of cat food and only have an alphabetical assortment of healthy food. Thus, Good Kitty resolves to become a Bad Kitty, committing an alphabetical list of sins against the family and neighborhood...until a grocery trip brings a haul of delicious alphabetical treats, which leads Bad Kitty to make alphabetical amends in order to be a Good Kitty again.

Gotta admit, at first I wasn't quite sure what all the fuss was about this book. That first alphabetical list of fruits and vegetables isn't very impressive. Iceberg lettuce, Navy beans, sQashes, rhUbarb, and Vegetable stew are kind of lame, and while one or two cheats can be fun, that's a big proportion of the alphabet to be stretching.

But then we get to the next alphabet and things start getting really fun! Now we've got whole phrases instead of single objects, and many of them are playfully alliterative, so that we're not getting just one instance of a letter (even if only one letter in each sentence is in bold). For example, Bad Kitty "Clawed the curtains" and "Hurled hairballs at our heads." All of her delicious foods are two-word alliterations, and her atonements are just as fun as her dastardly deeds--though based on the Homework she finishes, I'm not sure I'd want her help filing my taXes!

The Insect Ice cream on the Chicken Cheesecake is Bruel's bright illustration--this book would be nothing without Bad Kitty's absolutely priceless expressions! The clever panel-like design keeps the alphabets compact and flow of the story clear.

I'm still not impressed with that first alphabet...but now I definitely get the hype around Bad Kitty!

When her family runs out of cat food, and attempts to feed her healthy vegetables instead, a good kitty goes bad. Very, very bad! An A-Z list of veggies is followed by an A-Z list of bad behaviors the kitty gets up to, until someone finally arrives with the proper food for our feline heroine. Now determined to reform, kitty engages in an A-Z list of good behaviors, until another turn of events - the introduction of a new puppy companion - leads to another (possible) change of heart...As a girl I simply loved Jack Gantos's Rotten Ralph books, about one very badly-behaved feline who was constantly up to no good, so Nick Bruel's Bad Kitty felt like familiar territory to me. I enjoyed this story of one kitty's vacillation between good and bad behavior, and think it will make for a uniquely entertaining alphabet book. The artwork is a little more cartoon-like in style than I care for - it felt a little flat to me, to be honest - but it works well with the story. Recommended to all young cat lovers, and to anyone looking for alphabet books with a story attached to them.

This alphabet book uses the abcs multiple times to show what the kitty doesn't like to eat when the family runs out of cat food, what bad things she does, and what she does like to eat as well as her acts of restitution, once she gets the food she likes.

This is a really fun alphabet book that delves into the mood swings of a very reactionary cat, ha ha. I guess the "good for kitty" food part didn't make much sense. I'm sure that was part of its intended charm, though!
