About this audiobook

Before the Krewe of Hunters, there was Harrison Investigations. Be thrilled by this classic paranormal romantic suspense by the queen of the genre, New York Times bestselling author Heather Graham.

When Sarah McKinley is finally able to buy and restore the historic Florida mansion that she has always loved, she dismisses the horror stories of past residents vanishing and a long-dead housekeeper who practiced black magic. Then, in the midst of renovations, she makes a grim discovery. Hidden within the walls of Sarah’s dream house are the remains of dozens of bodies—some dating back over a century.

The door to the past is blown wide open when Caleb Anderson, a private investigator, shows up at the mansion. He believes several current missing-persons cases are linked to the house and its dark past. Working together to find the connection and stop a contemporary killer, Sarah and Caleb are compelled to research the history of the haunted house, growing closer to each other even as the solution to the murders eludes them.

But there is one who knows the truth…a spirit who follows every move they make. Soon Caleb begins to fear that if he can’t stay a step ahead, he could lose Sarah to a killer with an ability to transcend time in a quest for blood and sacrifice.

This is a really great book. It had me on the edge on my seat thinking I know who was doing it. Then I found I was wrong. I feel the author couldn’t done a better job at the end.

Not a big fan of this BTB Stand Alone Book. I've read plenty of other Heather Graham books that I've really enjoyed but this one feels rushed to put together.

The lingo and substance of the women is old fashioned and just sounds weird. Its like The Andy Griffith Show meets Wannabe Criminal Minds episode.

I didn't finish the book as I just couldn't take anymore. Also, if listening as an Audiobook the Narrator is poor. She also seems to have a slight lisp which can be very distracting at times. I have a speech impediment that stands out at times despite years of speech therapy so I'm not trying to be mean or judgemental. I just kept getting distracted at times and tried to read the book myself. It didn't help as the content is ridiculous.

Excellent read and found this book very interesting and informative with historical fiction. This is a great little ghost story. When Sarah buys her historic house and begins to renovate it, she finds out that there are bones in the walls. Along with that comes a ghost and the handsome new guy in town. She must find out more history on the house to try and figure out what happened in her house, and why there are girls in town disappearing. I really loved the history in this book. It was really interesting to read the memoir excerpts in the novel from the women of the past. It is a good novel if you like reading about legends

Entertaining! I enjoyed the immersive story and wanted more! The characters were engaging as per the usual. This one had the potential to be much creepier than it was though. Maybe the next one will be....

I liked the concept of this book, but it felt like the romance was not well planned or believable and there were no real seeds to who the killers were planted earlier in the book. It felt like their identities were totally pantsed in a "ooh wouldn't it be cool if it was these people?" without the necessary groundwork to make it truly believable. The Dead Room was much much better.

Loved this book from Heather Graham about St. Augustine. Her books set in Florida are the best! Great descriptions of the Old Town part of St. Augustine. Loved the characters and their encounters with ghosts and haunted historical locations.

Very well written and wildly captivating. The plot was so complex that it had me guessing who the culprit was up until the perpetrator was revealed. Even though the construction of her stories are similar, I find all of Heather Graham's novels to be thrilling to the end.
