      This book should've been called "The 50 Shades of Nick Gentry." Wish there had been more story and less page after page of sex. It was never explained how he found where Charlotte was hiding -- just that Nick "hunted" and could find anyone. The ending seemed rushed and was wrapped up very quickly. My least favorite of tge 16 Kleypas books I've read. Premise: Nick Gentry is hired to find the runaway Charlotte Howard who is betrothed to the creepy Lord Radnor but decides he wants her and will protect her.

      This feels a tad more complex than the average HR, but I dug it. Basically, though, it's two people with rough backgrounds and cause to keep others at a distance finding and helping to heal each other. Which is nice. This book fills you in on everything you need to know, but it's probably best read after the book before it, which lays some of the groundwork.

      Having read so much about Nick Gentry in Lady Sophia's Lover I was so looking forward to this book. Nick is probably the reason that I have a soft spot for tortured heroes. He has survived so much and is so determined to be the ultimate bad boy that you just have to love him. Nick has survived by his wits and his intelligence but he wants something more he just doesn't know what until he meets Charlotte Howard. I found it amusing how Sir Ross Cannon manipulated Nick into taking up his responsibilities as viscount. While in the beginning Nick isn't happy about the way things have worked out he begins to understand at the end of the story that he can make a bigger difference as a viscount than he can as a runner. I loved watching him evolve into a caring and compassionate lover and husband. For all his bluster he really does care what people think of him. Finally any man that loves his sister as much as Nick does can't be that bad.Charlotte ran away from a situation that she never wanted. Forced by Lord Randor to try to become his idea of the perfect woman she rebels. Charlotte is very clever and is able to stay hidden for two years before Nick finds her. Charlotte is also very smart and intuitive. She realizes from the very beginning that Nick can and will protect her. She also learns that she is a very passionate woman ant that Nick can bring that passion into full heat with little effort. She never excepts to love Nick, however the attraction between is so very strong that it provides the two with the means to fall in love. Charlotte ability to read Nick's emotions and bod language makes her able to build a trust with him that few others have. She is very good at knowing when to comfort and when to provoke his sexual desires. I like Charlotte a lot.Ms. Kleypas can write some of the best books on the market today. Her romances are rich with detail, that doesn't overpower the story. Her characters are enduring and lovable. She can write some of the best love scenes in the historical romance genre at the time. She tries to keep her stories as close to the historical period as possible and tells you when she has taken liberties with the facts. She is worth reading over and over. She has been a auto buy author for me since that first time I read a book written by her.

      I loved Nick and Lottie!! She is the perfect light to his dark!! What a wonderful story!! One of my favorites in the genre!

      Good book. The only problem is that the main female's reaction to being touched the first time by the male character was unrealistic based on her back story. That stayed with me throughout the whole story and made it hard for me to immerse myself in the story fully.

      Hired by a jilted suitor to locate his runaway bride, Nick Gentry is surprised to discover that Charlotte Howard has good reason to escape her obsessive husband-to-be. He is just as surprised by his own attraction to the courageous Lottie and makes the impulsive decision to provide her with protection by marrying her himself.

      Nick and Charlotte are an engaging couple. She is spirited and intelligent with an iron will as demonstrated by the fact that she not only decides to escape her arranged marriage at a time when such things were widely accepted, but also succeeds in eluding Lord Radnor for so long.

      Nick is similar to other Kleypas heroes - sexy and powerful with a touch of the bad boy thrown in for good measure. His traumatic past and coping mechanisms only make him all the more endearing. He and Charlotte have intense chemistry and their romance is deeply sensual. Kleypas certainly knows how to write an steamy sex scene.

      Unfortunately, the plot is where Worth Any Price encounters some difficulties. Aside from its predictability, the stalking suitor storyline is underdeveloped, the final confrontation is anti-climactic and the resolution is completely illogical since when does a psychotic and obsessive stalker kill himself rather than the object of his “affection”. Moreover, despite the build up of Lottie’s relationship with her parents, they are never forced to atone for their actions and the plot point is left dangling.

      All in all, this is an entertaining conclusion to the Bow Street Runners series and the short appearance by my favorite Kleypas hero, Marcus Marsden, Earl of Westcliff, earns it an extra half star.

      I heart Nick. He's still my favorite (Well, ok, that's subject to change depending on what book I'm currently reading but still..he's right up there) of Kleypas' heroes. I adore him.

      I love that Lottie is the strong one in their relationship and takes such care with him. This one definitely holds up.

      Such a great romance. And so freaking hot! A rare treat with extremely likeable characters both male and female.Nick has so many dimensions and demons to battle. He’s a charged male character oozing with magnetic heat and power. He’s tortured and haunted. He’s driven and doesn’t stop until he gets what he wants.I love his progression. He begins as John the innocent little orphaned brother of Sophia. Dearly loved and deeply mourned. Then he resurfaces as hardened Nick Gentry. Nick is a street-wise, wildly successful and most wanted criminal. Now, three years later, he is still Nick, quietly adored and reunited brother to Sophia and most effective bow street runner. Imprisoned beneath his steeled and jaded exterior is the whisper of young John still haunted and tortured by his experience and near assults while serving time. He is at a breaking point torn by fear, revulsion and desperate need, painfully aware of his lingering virginity. He seeks out relief with the highly selective and utterly talented Madame Gemma. He’s trembling and terrified. It’s heartbreaking and powerful. Three years pass. Gemma ends their arrangement abruptly forcing him to seek another lover.Nick throws himself into his latest assignment chasing after Charlotte, a young woman who wishes not to be found. When he finds her, he is in disguise as Lord Sydney (his former self). Nick realizes upon meeting her that Lottie is the one he’s been seeking for himself. He drops all other motives in a lust-driven pursuit to have her.Lottie is drawn to Lord Sydney. He tempts her unlike any others before him. He is handsome and fascinating. She senses a deep wound and loneliness hidden from view to most everyone but her. This gentleman is forbidden fruit and best not pursued or risk being discovered. Only he is not who he claims to be. It is all a deception to capture her and return her to a horrible life tied to a terrible Lord. Nick senses this opportunity and offers her his protection in exchange for marriage. She can’t reconcile how she feels about John, the man she was falling in love with and Nick the hardened stranger and imposter who holds her life in his hands. Despite this struggle, she chooses her best option, Nick. He, of course, hasn’t identified his feelings as anything other than desire but he is relieved that she will be his entirely, body and soul.Nick’s growing attachment to Lottie and desperate need to possess her fully is barely checked when he has her in his arms. He becomes something mesmerizing to read: an extremely talented and voracious lover with a most tender and innocent soul. He worships her body with his and she submits, helpless and overwhelmed by her response to his touch. Their relationship deepens deliciously. Their unspoken love grows and their affection for one another matures with perfect speed. Their love expressed becomes explosive and all encompassing. They are the rarely written perfect match.

      I felt sorry for Sophia's brother, Nick/John, his life was a total nightmare. I'm looking forward to see how he will evolve and change in the 3rd book of the series "Worth Any Price", I think he will make an interesting character and a lover, he might be even like Derek Craven from "Dreaming of You". They kind of share the same background.

      I'm reading the 3rd book of Bow Street Runners, and all through the story I see Nick portrayed by Richard Armitage!!! I find him so sexy; he would make a great Nick!!

      Nick Gentry, most current mission is to find a missing lady, the man whom she is betrothed to is desperate to find her. But when Nick finally finds her (which wasn't that difficult ) but then he meets her and only desires to keep her for himself. Knowing that she is in desperate circumstances, he offers her a solution, to marry him and have protection from her fiancee whom she would rather die than be married to. So even though its not a ideal situation for Charlotte, she agrees knowing that both her and her family would be taken care of, is she agrees to marry Nick, and she would have protection from the one she despises and fears the most. The passion is awakened in Charlotte, a desire that she didn't know she had in her, and every fiber in her comes alive with his sensual touch. And knows that her heart is at risk, for she could very well fall in love with this sensual yet secretive man...Worth Any Price is the third and final installment in the Bow Street Runners series that Lisa Kleypas has created. Worth Any Price is Nick Gentry story, and after seeing him previously, I have definitely been looking forward to reading his story. Nick is a special hero, and one that is close to my heart, and one of my favorite characters that this author has created. He is a haunted and dangerous man, but there is a appeal about him, where you just want to comfort the man, for he has gone through many hardships throughout his life. Worth Any Price is a charming story about two people who deserve love and happiness having never been able to find it for themselves, but together will find the most exquisite pleasure and joy. From the first page I was drawn into the story and could hardly put it down and is captivating to the bone......I LOVED it!!!My Favorite Quote"You'll find life far more enjoyable as my wife," Gentry Continued " You won't be anyone's servant. You can do as you please within reasonable limits. And you won't have to fear Lord Radnor any longer. ""All for the price of sleeping with you," She muttered. He smiled, all velvety arrogance, as he replied, "You may come to enjoy that part of it most of all."

      The only aspect of Lady Sophia's Lover that I liked was the thief-taker Nick Gentry, Sir Ross's arch nemesis. He seemed like a compelling character - dashing and dangerous but still with a soft spot for his sister. So I was interested to see how his own story would turn out in Worth Any Price. Sadly my complaints against Kleypas' style and the way she packages her romances were still reaffirmed here, though Worth Any Price was still palatable - at least more so than the few others by her that I've read. Nick Gentry has been recruited as a Bow Street Runner and, under the commission of Lord Radnor, he's on the trail of Radnor's runaway bride Charlotte (Lottie) Howard. When he finally catches up with Lottie, Nick's trials and tribulations in love begin. Love is a trial to him because he has a dark secret that makes intimacy difficult. I didn't find his dark secret all that terrible or traumatic, but neither did his handling of it interfere pointlessly with his romance with the heroine (as was the case with Again the Magic, which drove me crazy). He does keep Lottie at a distance a bit, but from the start there's not much substance to or enough conviction behind the conflict, and their happily ever after is a guarantee (which makes for a bland romance, but at least it wasn't aggravating.) I'm sure I was supposed to take his deep dark secret much more seriously than I did, but since his emotional trauma is dealt with so superficially, I was able to enjoy the book more than if I had taken him seriously (if that makes any sense.) Basically I had low expectations, and so I wasn't disappointed. My other complaint is that Nick's charm and bad boy persona, as introduced in Lady Sophia's Lover, and in which I was able to believe, peters out in the course of Worth Any Price, which charts Nick's reform, his transformation into Lord Sydney at the hands of Sir Ross, and his taming under the influence of marriage. I really liked the first part of the book, when Nick is still a Bow Street Runner, still his own man, still reckless and a little dangerous. After marriage and his reentry into society, however, and the struggles with his past and his dark secrets, he becomes much less interesting. Actually, I feel sorry for him, beset as he is on all sides, trapped and manipulated to change "for his own good." This turn of events is endorsed in no uncertain terms by the end of the book, when Nick accepts that it has all indeed been for his own good. He realizes that he’s happy with this wife, his marriage, his new life as Lord Sydney. I won't presume to say which life he should have chosen or gainsay his belief in his happiness, but I will protest how heavy handed the book is in reinforcing how "right" the hero is to become Lord Sydney, and how "wrong" he was in his former life as naughty Nick Gentry. Enough about Nick. Like I said, I really liked him in the first part of the book, before his marriage to the heroine. As for Lottie, she's been living under cover as a lady's maid in the country for two years. When Nick finds her, there's that trademark instant connection, but I like their chemistry and for a brief while, their romance grabs my interest. Lottie seems like a capable, resourceful young woman with some spunk. She's been able to look after herself this far and best of all refuses to become a martyr for her family, whose hopes for financial stability rely solely on her marriage to Lord Radnor. I particularly liked that she doesn't have to rely on the hero to rescue her from the dire straights she inevitably finds herself in by the time of the book's climactic (that is, melodramatic or hair raising, depending on your perspective) finale. Not that she actually has to do anything to extract herself from her difficulties, but I liked how her problems were resolved without any knight in shining armor theatrics from Nick, while he in turn has his own harrowing brush with death in order to realize how much he has to live for with Lottie in his life. Baggage dispensed with, they get to reunite and all is well. However, after, by a brilliant stroke of luck, she marries Gentry, Lottie's personality fades into the background and narrows to her enjoyment of the amazing sexual super powers of her well endowed, oh so knowledgeable husband. Oh and she gets to break through his fears and shame and find true love. It’s all very pat and predictable, the story a steady progression towards an easily won happily ever after. Still, Nick and Lottie are cute together, so this is one of the more enjoyable books by Kleypas that I've come across.
