- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Summary: The neighborhood is having its very own pet show and every kid around is excited to start competing. This includes a young boy named Archie who unfortunately has a problem; his pet, his cat is missing. With everyone else getting awards, Archie soon gets an idea and decides to enter a very special pet in a jar; a germ. This earns Archie the award for having the quietest pet. Not long after that, an elderly woman appears with Archie's cat and wins a ribbon. Being a good sport, Archie lets her keep the prize, but he took back his cat.Personal Reaction: Yet another book from my childhood, I always thought it to be really fun. The pictures are great and really work well with the setting of the story.Classroom Extension Ideas:1. Have children bring photographs of their pets to show and share with everyone.2. Let the students draw pictures of any kind of animal they might want as a pet; any kind of animal at all. Then display the drawings on the wall.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is about a small pet show put together by all the neighborhood people. Kids bring all kinds of animals from dogs, to ants and even germs! This would be a great book for story time.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"Pet Show" is a cute book about a neighborhood pet show where every pet gets a prize. Archie had planned on bringing a local stray cat, but when the cat doesn't turn up anywhere Archie is forced to improvise.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story, "Pet Show!" was a story about a pet show in a small town. The little boy wanted to put his cat in the pet show but could not find his cat anywhere. He looked and looked while his friends went on to the pet show. The line at the pet show was very long, and people were already winning ribbons when the little boy ran up with a bag. No one knew what he had in the bad and when he opened the bag he told the judges he brought his pet "a germ." The judges loved his pet and gave him the quietest pet award.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book is about a group of children who all enter their pets in a pet show. This would be a great book to read leading up to a time where all students brought their favorite item from home and shared with the other students why it is their favorite. This would be a fun activity and it would allow students to engage in conversation and share with one another. The illustrations in the book are very original and students would like them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5K-2. This story is about a little boy who cannot find his pet for the Pet Show. He looks everywhere so he decides that he is going to enter his pet germ in the pet show. His germ won the quietest pet award which made him very proud. After he received his award, a woman walks up with his cat and a judge mistakes the cat to be hers which was really the little boy's lost cat and she was given the blue ribbon.
