About this audiobook
In early spring of 2059, Lieutenant Eve Dallas is called off planet to face a grueling ordeal—giving a seminar at the largest police conference of the year, to be held in a swanky resort. A resort which just happens to be owned by her husband, Roarke, of course.
Even though Eve can't quite see it that way, it's supposed to be at least partly a vacation. But work intrudes in the form of a bloody homicide, and Eve is off and running. The case is complicated by Eve's personal history with the victim—and by the killer's history with Roarke. As danger closes in and the body count rises, Eve must find a way to stop the cycle of violence and revenge, and shove the past back where it belongs.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Well this is quite entertaining and interesting on a career police commander who has retired and taking a different route only to find out that it was not successful as political officials he lost badly. He also lost touch with reality. He use is son to carry out a revenge which ended up causing him his God children through the hands of the killer. Who was discovered to be Hayes Bryson.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I thought it was a good story, but it had potential to be longer.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Though a short story, Eve Dallas, Roarke and the NYSPD are at their best.
Love this series. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Nachdem ich gerne spannende Romane im Stil von Tess Gerritsen lese, wurde mir empfohlen, es doch einmal mit J.D. Robb zu versuchen. Gesagt, getan.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The combinding different groups within the story that showed varies degrees of good and bad.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5J D Robb as usual hit another home run. I love this series. Whenever I need a good read, I come back to it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5NYPSD homicide detective Lieutenant Eve Dallas is not happy. She’s off-planet at a law enforcement conference where she scheduled to give a speech and host a seminar. And Eve is decidedly unhappy about both of those things.Their stay at the swanky Olympus Resort [Roarke’s, of course] is supposed to be part vacation, but murder interrupts in a very personal way: Eve has a history with the victim and Roarke has a history with the killer. Can Eve untangle the off-planet crime and put an end to the cycle of revenge? This “In Death” novella follows the events recounted in “Betrayal in Death” and finds several of the expected characters attending the off-planet conference. Despite its short length, the narrative brings readers all the things they have come to expect from an “In Depth” story: a strong sense of place, well-developed, nuanced characters, and an intriguing mystery. In addition, there’s some interesting backstory for Roarke as well as dashes of suspense, humor, and romance. Readers, both returning and new, will enjoy the unfolding story.Highly recommended.

4 Stars
At an off-planet law enforcement conference, Lieutenant Eve Dallas finds herself investigating the violent death of a man with whom she had a previous altercation . The case becomes even more fraught when it becomes clear that Roarke is being framed for the crime.
This is the 2nd novella in the series and is, despite its shorter length, a self-contained story.
Even though the motive for the crime is never in doubt, the investigation is still compelling mainly due to the insights into Roarke's backstory and a couple of very suspenseful moments. There are also some hints at deeper connections between Eve and Roarke that are very tantalizing and it will be interesting to see the direction in which Robb takes them.
In sum, a short yet sweet addition to the series. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A seminar off planet with hundreds of police personnel in attendance doesn't stop murder from being committed. A 50-year career commander with the memory of a blotched operation that cost the lives of many good cops fuels the murders along with a vendetta involving Eve and Roarke. This is a very short 88-pages but each is filled with the suspense that only J.D. Robb can weave to bring Eve Dallas and Roarke to life.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was fast paced with a really good plot as always. but I think I just prefer the full novels over the novellas, there is much more character development in there.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another great book in the Eve Dallas series. I liked that we got to learn more about Roarke's history and it will be interesting to see whether or not Roarke and Eve's fathers were associates. My only complaint...where was McNab? His absence, especially after his and Peabody's fight was quite conspicuous.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Murder of a bodyguard at one of Rourke's luxury hotels off planet where he and Eve are staying leads them to a retired police commander with a grude against Rourke's father.
