      "Anti Prom" might appeal to its intended audience, but it never really captured my attention. Dealing with unlikely friendships and stereotypes, the book is narrated by the three main characters: Bliss, Jolene and Meg who band together to seek revenge of Bliss' boyfriend after he is caught cheating on Prom night. I didn't really like any of the girls, they all annoyed me, but if I was forced to choose, Meg, the quiet one, would probably be my favourite. Slightly humorous at times, there were parts of this book when I had to force myself to keep reading, and I couldn't wait to finish it. Not my cup of tea!

      a silly, light, fun read. three girls from completely different social strata find themselves caught up in all kinds of high school drama. not very believable, but still an enjoyable read.
      bliss, the high school queen finds her world knocked off it's axis when she sees her bff making out with her bf in the prom limo.

      My opinion: I knew going into this book that it would be a lighthearted read, and I was definitely ok with that since the last 3 or 4 books I read were pretty emotional. It all starts with a girl named Bliss who finds her boyfriend cheating on her at prom with her best friend. She turns to the school's resident bad girl Jolene for advice on how to get revenge on them. Jolene reluctantly agrees to help (she doesn't feel much sympathy for Bliss though since she's part of the "in" crowd that seems to look down on everyone else). On the way out of prom to put their plan in action, they run into Meg who is all but invincible in the school. They persuade her to let them in the car and soon Meg gets mixed into their shenanigans. The three of them embark on a journey of revenge, while unknowingly to any of them they start to become something they never though possible: friends. This was a cute book. You can relate to these characters easily, because you can either identify yourself as one of them when you were in high school, or you knew someone like that. For Bliss, the adventure started out as just getting revenge on her boyfriend and supposed best friend, but ultimately it turned into much more than that. She slowly begins to realize that the opinions she and her friends form of other people are not necessarily accurate, and that their behavior is sometimes very hurtful. Jolene is always the bad girl, pushing the envelop and getting into trouble, but it's nice to see the softer side of her at times and I think she really only needed someone to really listen to her problems and sympathize with her. And Meg, I guess I could see a little of myself in Meg. I wasn't invincible in high school, but I know what it's like to be super shy and have low self esteem. I always tried to avoid conflict too. But as she starts to see that not all risks are bad, she starts to loosen up and enjoy herself. I wish more kids in high school could learn to open up a bit more and stop being afraid to be themselves, but as long as there are kids like Bliss' and her friends around it makes it hard. Sometimes it seems like it's better to be invincible than be the target of mean comments and jokes. Luckily I never had to go through that; I think if anything I fell more on the "mean girl" side of things and I do feel bad for things I have said in the past. This book really made me reflect on that and what I would do differently now if given the chance. Overall it was a super cute book, fast read, and I like the way it jumped around to each of the girls so you could read first hand what she was feeling and thinking. The cover is cute, not sure if this will be the final cover but the dresses the girls are wearing are perfect, just like they're described in the book. My rating: 3/5 stars

      This was a fun read, with the right amount of humor and teenage angst. McDonald did an excellent job of showing how extremely different girls can grow to be friends under the right circumstances. I look forward to reading more by her.
