- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5#5 "What will wake the dead?"Gabe is stuck with his annoying cousin and his uncle in Egypt. His uncle is an archaeologist working on a new chamber inside the Great Pyramid. When Gabe and his cousin go exploring things they learn a terrible secret. But when Gabe gets lost inside the pyramid chambers, things take a dangerous turn. Is the curse of the Mummy real? Is Gabe being pursued by something supernatural?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome book lots of times that have you on the edge of your seat. Also there’s those moments when you’re like this is so going to happen but then it takes an unexpected turn
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Goosebumps. This is the series that kept me reading through my childhood. More than any other series, Goosebumps kept me interested in reading, and R.L. Stein is a wonderful children's writer. I applaud his efforts, and can't express enough my gratitude for the series.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This one is different from the others I've read so far. First off, though it is a decent enough thriller concerning a crazy madman for the most part. Unlike the other Goosebumps I've read this is hardly "horror" and has only a brief moment of the supernatural in it. It's also the first I've read to give actual useful information about the topic, here being pyramids and the mummifying process. Disappointing ending as well which lacks the cue for creepy twilight zone music.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Most of the thrill in this was from a human monster rather than a supernatural one, which made it a little different. However, I cannot believe that an archaeologist would say "mummy case" instead of "sarcophagus", a word that many middle schoolers should have come across at some point in history.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Gabe's family is on vacation in Egypt, seeing the pyramids, when his parents are unexpectedly called away on business. Rather than go with them to Alexandria, Gabe elects to stay with his uncle Ben, and Ben's daughter, Sari. Ben is an archaeologist studying the pyramids, so Gabe gets to go inside the pyramids. Maybe he'll discover a mummy, or some hidden treasure. Or maybe... hidden danger!
The fifth book in R. L. Stine's Goosebumps series, The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb follows Gabe and Sari as they have an adventure in a pyramid. Sari is always trying to scare Gabe, and he's always falling for it, but might there be something worth being scared of?

The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb provides a good mix of suspense and adventure, with just a touch of the supernatural. It's a fun, quick read, and is available on the Kindle, as Classic Goosebumps #6, for horror fans that prefer bytes to pages. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I think writing a review for this harmless and silly and yep mediocre book is undeserved and purposeless. Having said that, I enjoyed it for a simple story, one which contain the surprise of brevity. I think there's the smallest iota of sorcery in the book than in its predecessors. The details from the people and the culture and other paraphernalia of Cairo must have been obtained first hand - pun intended! The author did cheat at one point ,giving us the impression that the ending would not be happy. Maybe it's because of this gross misdirection that I'm fond of this story.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The book takes place in Egypt where an archeologist discovers a pyramid out in Egypt. A kid named Gabe was sent to the archaeologist with his daughter named Sari. Gabe, Sari, and her father Ben found a secret mummification chamber to be seen by a worker named Amad who is supposed to kill them for entering the chamber.... if you like suspensful and surprising events you will like this book. -JP
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Gabe, a boy on vacation in Cairo, Egypt with is parents (who are there on business) is looking forward to spending some time with his Uncle Ben who lives in Cairo and works at the Great Pyramid. When his parents suddenly receive a call, Gabe finds he's not going to see the pyramid OR his Uncle and he's not happy about that. With a bit of finagling Uncle Ben agrees to let Gabe stay with him for a couple of weeks while his parents are in Alexandria...the catch, Gabe's cousin (and nemesis...as much as a kid has a nemesis) Sari is also visiting and determined to show Gabe up at every opportunity. After a night alone and a bit of a scare due to a practical joke, Gabe, Sari and Uncle Ben are off to the pyramid where they meet Uncle Ben's workers and hear all about a "curse" that one of the workers feels has been unleashed because they've defiled the tomb. Everyone seems to laugh it off...but is there something to this curse? Ultimately, it is this competitive nature between them that leads to pranks and constant "one-upping" with exploring the Pyramid dig site that ultimately gets reveals some strange and unusual goings on in the Pyramid. The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb is the fifth book in the Goosebumps series and has some genuine scares, creepy atmosphere, and actual danger (compared to other books I've read in this series), but they are "junior" scares, not as fleshed out or graphic as they might be. This is an easy, entertaining read for kids ages 8-12, probably best suited for those about 8-10 years old...older kids will probably find the plot and writing too simple to really be enjoyable or believable. I give it four stars and would recommend it as good "lite-horror" for kids.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Gabe is always feeling inferior to his cousin, Sari, and he wishes he could finally get one up on her. When she saves his life twice, however, there just doesn't seem to be any hope. One of his uncle's assistants keeps talking about the curse on the pyramid, and when he and Sari discover what the curse is all about, Gabe gets a chance to take control and save Sari's life.
