Pretty close to a perfect romance. Elise and Brody are great leads. Both are funny, smart, good looking, charming, hardworking small business owners, and good parents. The book had drama that comes from life and not from ridiculous secrets. Seattle, a city I love, is featured being very Seattleish. This would be a 5 star but for Dane's inability to write good evil-doers. Raven is a silly soap opera tramp and the villainous ex-in-laws were cartoonish. Otherwise I am completely feeling the love.

Another in the brown series, this book is about Brody Brown who meets his neighbor, former ballerina Elise Sorenson after she helps him after a hit and run. They develop a friends with benefits relationship, which slowly becomes more. This was a beautifully done romance, with well developed characters and emotions.

This story was good enough that I kept reading but beyond daily living it only had one plot event that was overshadowed by all the sex and sometime the heroine was overly insecure. Elise and her daughter want to start a new life in Seattle and she is attracted to neighbor Brody with all the tattoos.

Good story line and great, well thought out characters. I could have used a little better balance of story line to sex scenes.

Good read, in spite of being a lot like the first one of the series it was worth my time spent on it.

I hate writing bad reviews. I am from the school of thought that if you can't say something nice you shouldn't say anything at all and yet here I am...

This book was a huge disappointment to me. I am a fan of Lauren Dane I have read a variety of her other books. I read the first book in this series and liked it and the rest of the series has been on my 'To Read' list for a while. I hesitated because they were priced pretty high but I finally got this one and was excited to finally read it.

Like I said it was a huge disappointment. The story drug on forever with nothing happening and would skip big chuncks of time it was almost like the story was just some filler between sex scenes. A few days go by... sex scene... a few weeks... sex scene... a few months... sex scene. The sex scenes were graphic, which I expected, but they were not sexy. They were as boring and mechanical as the rest of the book.

The romance was not good, it was a constant stream of internal dialog about how the characters felt but they never expressed it to each other.

The ONLY thing I liked about this book was the characters. As individuals they were all great characters but the couple never developed a good 'couple' relationship.

I am not sure I can bring myself to read the rest of the series. If you read Laid Bare and liked it and fell in love with the Browns, don't read this one thinking it'll be just as good. Just tell your self Brody fell in love and lived happily ever after, no matter what you think up it will be a better story.

(This review applies to books 1, 2, and 3 in this series)This Brown Siblings series is a little more risque than Dane’s Chase Brothers series. While the Chase Brothers books are mostly conventional romance with some explicit sex, these books are closer to erotica. Lots of sex, with forays into S&M, and in the first one, a MMF relationship. But, hiding behind all the sex is a decent story, where the characters have deeper issues to deal with than who’s going to be on top this time. I think Dane is my new go-to author if I’m looking for this type of book.

re-read 12/7/10 - I really loved the progression of this novel. The timelime spans more than a year, which gives Brody and Elise plenty of time to get to know one another. Their relationship starts out casual, but slowly moves into deeper territory for both of them.

re-read 8/2010 after reading Inside Out.

I really adored this book. Brody turned out to be a wonderful hero and I really liked the strength Elise showed. She and her daughter were excellent characters.

This is an excellent contemporary romance.

After the death of his parents, Brody had to choose between taking care of his family or pursuing his career. He chose his family. His siblings are grown. He owns his own business. It is time for Brody to look to building his life again. Elise is a single mom. Her marriage and life as a ballerina are over. Both ended tragically. All Elise wants is a quiet life with her daughter. Brody befriends both Elise and her daughter.
From the friendship, passion grows. Elise is afraid of it. When she is forced to face her past head on, Brody becomes her rock. The bond they forge becomes so strong, denying their feelings becomes impossible.

“You don't always choose who you love, sometimes it just happens.”

Brody id a patient man. He is great with Elise, who is extremely wary of relationships. Brody is brilliant with Elise's daughter. Half of Elise's attraction to Brody is probably how great he handles her daughter. Elise is a wonderful mother. She would never have anything to do with a man that didn't see how great her daughter is. She really is great. I laughed at that child so many times reading this book, I think Hades may have begun to question my sanity.

Though I thoroughly enjoyed another of Lauren's books (Laid Bare), this one had problems. I love this author's writing, characters and depth of emotion. But in Coming Undone, the ending was a foregone conclusion by the middle of the book. The rest was simply much too drawn out. I found myself skipping through many pages to get some action or new plot points, but everything was predictable and just plodding along. Had it been much shorter I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
