About this audiobook

James Becker's pulse-pounding debut thriller, The First Apostle, made critics and genre fans alike stand up and take notice. His brilliant follow-up, The Messiah Secret stars museum conservator Angela Lewis. On assignment at a lavish English mansion, Angela makes a shocking discovery-a parchment describing the life of Jesus of Nazareth. The excitement surrounding her miracle-find is quickly tempered, however, when she and her husband become the targets of a shadowy group determined to keep this document a secret.

I liked that the author introduced some historical facts that added to the story line. I alos enjoyed the part located in Egypt as I was familiar with the locations. However, as I have been noticing in recent books, authors are taking a lot of care developing the story line until the end. Then it all happens so quickly that the reader is left asking, "what just happened and why?'

Author seems to be anti-christian. Did not like the book. Unfortunately this was the 2nd book in the series I listened to. Complete waste of time.

I groaned aloud when the story turned to the heroes hunting for the Ark of the Covenant, but fortunately the plot changes at the end so their objective is a different religious relic. The narrative is reasonably paced, but some of the violence at times does not add to the story. Quite a good read but there are what would be continuity errors in the telling of the story. For example the heroes go to obscure places in different countries but there are no language barriers. So I'd say a good story, but some minor flaws in places.

i love this genre of book. call it the "dan brown" genre or the "everything you know about *insert religious tradition here* is a lie!" genre. it's a guilty pleasure. this book was pretty great. there were some slow points and a couple of points where i felt i was being strung along unnecessarily, but for the most part the pacing was good. i like angela and chris (the main protagonists) and wish it had been more of them and less of the side characters. the plot was interesting and the history it was based on even more interesting.all in all a good read.
