About this audiobook

THE POWERFUL NEW BESTSELLER FROM ONE OF THE NATION’S FAVOURITE STORYTELLERS AVAILABLE ON AUDIO.

Harry always knew he would go back one day …

Eighteen years ago when he was a boy, he had made a decision that drove him from the pace he knew and loved.

In those early years, between boy and man, he had carved out a life for himself, and somehow, he had found a semblance of peace.Yet through every waking moment during those long aching years, he was haunted by what happened when he was a boy. He had never forgotten that warm, carefree girl with the laughing eyes. Then he recalled the sadness, the bad timings and even now, he could not forgive himself. They say you never forget your first love and it's true. You could have a dozen loving relationships and even settle down with someone you would die for, but your first love is always there, safe and protected in your heart and soul.

Now for the first time in all those years, Harry is heading back. Excited, afraid, and full of doubts, he knows he has no choice. Rightly or wrongly, he needs to know the outcome of what happened all those years ago.

And most importantly, he needs to find forgiveness.

    Reading right now.
Sunday February 1th 2004: I have finished the book.I did like it,although its not the best true crime.
It is about a teenager who's main target is to become the Worlds greatest serial Killer. In the book on the back you will find his diaries. He is gonna kill,so brutal,so mean. Unbelievable, but he is not going to be the Greatest serial Killer........He gets caught.

Review for the abridged audiobook.I listened to this as an abridged audiobook and felt that even that was too long. The plot seemed to proceed at a rather tedious pace, leaving me disinterested in the characters or their fates. We meet Harry Blake as he bids farewell to his beloved wife at her death bed. Her dying wish was that Harry should take their young son, Tom, back to Harry's childhood home and his aunt Kathleen, who had raised him after the death of his own parents. But Kathleen is not the only reason that Harry is drawn back to Fisher's Hill. He has never forgotten his first love, Judy, whom he had abandoned when he discovered that she had lied to him. Will he find Judy? Will he be able to forgive her for her lies? Will we learn the reason why she had lied? The story unravels in rather predictable fashion. There was one unexpected turn towards the end but I found that rather more unbelievable than the conclusion that we were being drawn to.If this had been in book form it would probably have stayed on my shelf but, being an audiobook, it got an airing as I never have enough in-car listening. Sadly, I can only say that I found it a bit boring - I don't think I'm a great fan of Ms Cox.

The story starts with Harry and his young son,Tom.Harry’s wife has just died and one of her dying wishes was for Harry to go back to where he came from and settle the past that has haunted him ever since he left Fisher’s Hill. He’s never forgotten the circumstances that drove him away and along with his wife Sara’s wish he returns to try and make amends with his first love Judy who has always been on his mind since he left.As we all know,I had this book free.I did enjoy it but not the kind of book I would rush out and buy for myself. It wasn’t the most thrilling of books but after the beginning, the story was quite fast paced. It had quite a few characters which sometimes can make a book confusing but that didn’t happen here and the story ploughed along nicely.A book that’s definately not in my favs but one that’s definately not in my worst reads. The author is well known for her romance books.I’ve read one or two of hers and enjoyed them. This is in no way chick lit but if it’s an easy read your after but want to step away from the usual boy meets girl kind of story then this is the book for you.
