      This story is told from the point of view of a character from "Wonder" the first book written in this collection. Her name is Charlotte Cody she was one of the welcome buddies of Auggie Pullman from the previous book "Wonder". She starts the book talking about an old homeless man who she used to walk by everyday on her way to school. She would always drop a Dollar into his hat and he would say "God Bless America". Charlotte noticed he wasn't there anymore one day which was kind of odd since he was there everyday. In the beginning of the school year Charlotte notices that her friends don't hang out with her. Her two friends, Ellie and Savanna start sitting with a new girl named Xemia Chinn. Charlotte still has a few good friends and makes one new one named Summer. Summer begins to sit with Auggie at lunch so they don't speak as much. Charlotte decides to enter for a dance that will be done at the end of school year. To her supersize Summer enters too. Her old friends and Xemia also enter. To Charlotte Xemia seems kind of snarky and sarcastic but she thinks if she will become friends with Xemia she can be friends with Savanna and Ellie again. When Charlotte finds out who was chosen she gets quite a shock, Xemia, Charlotte and Summer are chosen for the dance. Summer didn't seem like she was a great dancer but Charlotte soon found she really was! Charlotte Starts to become good friends with Xemia and Summer. One day when their dance instructor makes a deal with them to give a dollar if your late since she is always late she might not be as much, when she give them each a dollar Summer are Charlotte both say "God Bless America" and suddenly knew at the same time who them meant. They begin a search for the old man. Charlotte finds out that Summer knows his name, Gordy Johnson, and her Father knew him and gave him his orange jacket. Charlotte still doesn't become friends with her old friends again and a "Boy War" begins. Julian starts this whole war against Auggie and Jack. Charlotte trys to stay neutral in the whole boy war along with most of the other girls. Summer, Xemia and Charlotte finally perform the dance after much practice. The dance goes really well and everyone loves it! On the way back Charlotte getting on a bus. She finally finds him and finds out he was once a famous jazz player and does have a home. In the end Charlotte doesn't become friends with her old friends but gains many new ones. I think this book good because it was somewhat relate-able, modern and well written. Any Girl in 5th grade and up can relate to friends leaving you or silly drama at school which makes this book somewhat relate-able. This book is modern and would appeal to kids in this year , unlike an older boring book this would be picked up the most if given the choice between a classic like Animal Farm and Shingaling. This book is written in detail and good imagery, the words that are used describe whats happening or details of a character greatly. This book was very good and probably worth reading again!

      I enjoyed this chapter - though a little less than the other two extra chapters that I read before it. I found it a little harder to identify with Charlotte and her interests and the story lagged a little bit. I still was really happy to read it and have enjoyed all these extra wonder chapters. It was a marvelous book and it is such a treat to have extra content.

      Read July 14, 2015The previous Wonder stories revolve around Auggie -- this one does not. In this story we get a little more insight into one of the girls in Auggie's class (both previous stories were told from the perspective of boys that know Auggie). While this one didn't focus on Auggie, it was interesting to see another perspective of "the boy war" and other events that were happening at Beecher.
