Deskripsi

September has been crowned as Queen of Fairyland but the Kingdom is in chaos. The magic of a Dodo egg has brought every King, Queen, or Marquees of Fairyland back to life, each with a claim on the throne and their own plots and histories.

In order to make sense of it all, and to save their friend from a job she doesn't want, A-Through-L and Saturday devise a Royal Race - a Monarchical Marathon - in which every would-be ruler will chase the Stoat of Arms across the nation, and the first to seize the poor beast will be crowned.

Caught up in the madness are September's parents, who have crossed the universe to find their daughter.

Imaginative, delightful and fun, just like the rest of the series.

I can count on one hand books with satisfying endings, by which I mean endings that feel right. I didn't know how things would turn out for September, and even though I knew that the author and I are on the same hind-brain wavelength about this whole Fairyland business, I couldn't see how everything could be reconciled. So I was surprised at the end, because I hadn't thought of it, but also not surprised because the end is so fitting and so right. I wept real tears at the end. Happy tears, but they were ripped from my gut. (Actually, I initially lost it long before, at the scene with the Great Vole, where I was so overcome my eyes just leaked for 15 minutes while I put the book down and stared at the wall. I was a mess. The rest was bonus.)These books are beautiful and amazing and restorative.

After finally returning back to being seventeen, September is now Queen of Fairyland for a very brief window. For with so many potential rivals to the throne it has been decided that there will be a race for all the different candidates. The first to find the heart of Fairyland will be crowned. As September and those dearest to her in Fairyland race to prove whether she is indeed worthy of being Queen they encounter new and old faces and strike out on an adventure that will change all of them forever. The final book in the Fairyland series, this book was thoroughly satisfying. Full of the quirkiness and charm that makes these books such a delight, Valente brings together so many threads into a whole that is sure to please all those who have loved Fairyland as September has ventured there. The race is well-designed as the major plot arc and it was wonderful to meet characters both new and familiar. One of those books I wanted to hug when I finished as it did a spectacular job of weaving together plot threads from the whole series.

This was a most excellent end to the five book series.

This final book in Valente's wise, whimsical series of kids' novels picks up right where the previous volume, The Boy Who Lost Fairyland leaves off, and turns its attention back to the usual hero of the series, September, who has found herself crowned Queen of Fairyland, but has to win a most unusual race to keep the throne (or at least to keep it out of the hands of people who shouldn't have it).I don't think any of the later books have wowed me quite the way the first one did, but they've all been charming and fun and smart, this one included, and finally finishing the series has left me with a nice warm feeling.

This final book in the Fairyland series takes us back to September’s story. She has been crowned Queen of Fairyland and doesn’t really want the job. It is decided that there will be a race to find the Heart of Fairyland; whoever finds the Heart will be the Queen/King of Fairyland. This is a beautifully written novel; it’s full of lush and creative descriptions just like all of the previous books in the series. This is a book that begs to be read out loud; the story glitters and sparkles with all the beautiful scenery and surroundings. The story is very clever and I loved how it all wrapped up. In the end this is a story about the power of stories and there were many clever comments in here to that effect. The ending was beautiful, unexpected and completely perfect. These books are not quick reads. You have to read them carefully to catch all the irony and humor interspersed with odd bits of wisdom. Sometimes I find this a bit frustrating at first but then I always settle down into the style and story and enjoy it immensely. This whole series is one of Valente’s most accessible series; some of her others are pretty ambiguous and out there.Overall a spectacularly perfect ending to this amazing middle grade fantasy series. The writing style and creativity in here is amazing. While these aren’t necessarily easy reads, they are totally worth the effort. They are clever, and witty and beautiful. I highly recommend to everyone.
