About this audiobook
We live in a world where real friendship is hard to find. Suspicious of others and insecure about ourselves, we retreat into the safety of our small, self-made digital worlds. Tragically, even the church can become a place that reinforces this isolation. Jesus models a much richer vision of friendship. Scott Sauls, pastor and teacher, invites you to see the breadth of Christ's love in this audio book, Befriend.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Scott Sauls offers a timely call to a divided American church (post-2016 election) to consider how Jesus' commandment to love one another applies to a variety of categories of people: the rich, the poor, the disabled, the culturally and politically different, etc. Each chapter focusses on someone to reconsider your love (or lack of love) towards, in bite-sized chunks that make this book apt for discussion with the very people you might need to take the time to befriend. Heavy on inspiration, the book is however light on ideas for application. It is well and good to hear an evangelical pastor say that we need to rethink how we show love across the abortion debate, for example. It is hard, especially for the comfortable American church, to put hands and feet to this idea. This may be where reading with your local church or Bible study can help you; I see the book as a worthy discussion starter, but something you pass along once read rather than returning to yourself.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A light read but heavy with sound doctrine, love and compassion by a man who is obviously moved by the love of Jesus. This book is not filled with theory but practical things to do and consider.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved the audio book befriend it had some great stories in it. I was reading it with my bible group.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book challenges the reader to think of people as image bearers and people, no matter their background, deserving of your friendship. I highly recommend this book!
