- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5No way of knowing for sure if Betsy Dowd and her ride was real, but this is a great story about a heroic girl and her contribution to the war for independence. Wonderful illustrations!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Summary: This book is about a girl Betsy knows the redcoats are coming. She lets her father know but he says there is no one who is able to get to the General fast enough. So she gets on her horse and rides nonstop through the night into the morning until she got to the General. She got there in time and the soldiers where able to go save her town. Personal Reaction: I think this book had good illustrations and teaches a good lesson. If you put your mind to something you can do it. Classroom Extension: 1. This book could be used while doing a lesson on the American Revolution.2. We could also paint a picture of a scene in the book.
