About this audiobook

A dialogue between Socrates and Meno probes the subject of ethics. Can goodness be taught? If it can, then we should be able to find teachers capable of instructing others about what is good and bad, right and wrong, or just and unjust.

Socrates and Meno are unable to identify teachers of ethics, and we are left wondering how such knowledge could be acquired. To answer that puzzle, Socrates questions one of Meno's servants in an attempt to show that we know fundamental ideas by recollecting them.

The actors in this series are fantastic but the recordings always have problems. In this case, the entire final third of the dialogue is missing! Very frustrating as the other recordings of this dialogue are nowhere near as engaging. However there is another version of this recording on Scribd that is complete (it says “narrated by Albert Anderson” but it’s the same recording).

This is incomplete. The discussion with Anytus is left out.

This is a great series of recordings, all excellently narrated by Ray Childs and a supporting cast. Unfortunately, this Scribd audio version does not contain the last part of the dialogue. You can, however, find a complete recording of this exact same version on Audible.com.
