About this audiobook

Seventeen-year-old Megan Carver was an unlikely runaway. A straight-A student from a happy home, she studied hard and rarely got into trouble. Six months on, she's never been found.

Missing persons investigator David Raker knows what it's like to grieve. He knows the shadowy world of the lost too. So, when he's hired by Megan's parents to find out what happened, he recognizes their pain-but knows that the darkest secrets can be buried deep.

And Megan's secrets could cost him his life. Because as Raker investigates her disappearance, he realizes everything is a lie. People close to her are dead. Others are too terrified to talk. And soon the conspiracy of silence leads Raker towards a forest on the edge of the city. A place with a horrifying history, which was once the hunting ground for a brutal, twisted serial killer. A place known as the Dead Tracks . . .

A complex thriller set in London in which Raker hunts a missing schoolgirl and finds her disappearance is the tip of an iceberg.

Book 2 in the series of missing persons investigator David Raker. Interesting read, much better than the initial book in the series. This is a stand-alone novel, but much of the backstory of how he started his career in told in the first novel. Lots of characters, lots of plot twists, some emphasis on London scenery

I really enjoy Tim Weaver's David Raker series. Raker is a former journalist, now a missing persons investigator. Because he's a former journalist, the stories sometimes get a bit mired in the details -- too many details -- but the stories are complex... and often not done when you think they are. This book is about a missing teenage-girl whose parents hire Raker to find her... anything more would spoil the story.

While I would have loved to read these books in order, that didn't happen! I had to order his books from England because Never Coming Back is the only one printed in the US. It was so good, I had to get the rest. The Dead Tracks came in yesterday and while I wanted to wait for the others to read in order, once I opened this book, I read it straight through as well! A seventeen year old, Megan Carver, appears to be a runaway. Six months later, her parents call David Raker to find her after the police seem to be at a dead end. And, away we go on a most exciting ride again! You have to read these books!

Entertaining page-turner, which lives in a dark place and maybe has one too many melodramatic twists. Raker is a hero with issues as he continues to grieve over the death of his wife, but there is a more uplifting close to this book than you would expect.
