About this audiobook

The Tennessee Zone, Year 2057

It's been ten years since the Collapse. The survivors live off what they can grow, find, or steal. A man known as Ryker is among the survivors, a family man with a mysterious past. When his family's relative safety is taken, he's forced to join what's left of civilization to care for his wife and children. But will his newfound allegiance to the government of the Tennessee Zone save them or plunge them into darker peril, and will the powers-that-be use Ryker for their own nefarious needs?

I've read all of the author's "Corps Justice" books and enjoyed each of them. When crossing over to Sci-fi in The Patriot Protocol, the story doesn't flow as good as the others. In fact, I am still trying to find out what the plot was. Ten years after the collapse, Ryker and his family are trying to survive in a small cabin they called home when intruders causes Ryker to defend his property. Now that they were discovered, he takes his family and heads to a nearby town. Ryker's skills show that he has some military background but doesn't own up to it until later in the story. Two of his children become deathly ill, which forces him to join the military for five years to save them. They are relocated and then the whole world comes apart. His missions are "creepy" and depend on his cunning and sixth sense to survive. Unseen forces are targeting him and readers don't find out who it is. Then the book ends.Loss of the star is because of the sudden ending. I enjoyed reading about the high tech gadgets and such - should have said up front that this book was part of a series.
