About this audiobook
As Stiletto magazine's authority on all things breakup-and-heartache, Emma Sinclair writes from personal experience. Five years ago, Emma was Charlotte, North Carolina's darling debutante and a blushing bride-to-be. Now she's the ice queen of the Manhattan dating scene. Emma left her sultry Southern drawl behind, but not even her closest friends know that with it she left her heart. Now Emma's latest article forces her to face her demons-namely, the devilishly sexy guy who ditched her at the altar.
After giving up everything for a pro-soccer career, Alex Cassidy watches his dreams crumble as a knee injury sidelines him for good. Now he's hanging up his cleats and giving journalism a shot. It's just a coincidence that he happens to pick a job in the same field, and the same city, as his former fiancee . . . right? But when Emma moves in next door, it's no accident. It's research. And Alex can't help wondering what might have been. Unlike the innocent girl he remembers, this Emma is chic, sophisticated, and assertive-and she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. The trouble is, Alex has never wanted her more.
Contains mature themes.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This might....checking my notes....be my favorite of this series?
I mean, it's still a 3-4 star range, but I appreciated the emotional weight and the pacing of actually starting with the misunderstanding that, to me, felt like it could actually really happen and also felt really sad. In the same turn, it was funny--though sometimes I could do without the sideshow--I actually felt like the heroine was plenty humorous enough on her own. Also, Emma is my favorite of the heroines so far! I felt like she had more depth for some reason. Cassidy still lacked some which is why I definitely feel like this trends at a 3.5, because it may have relied to heavily on external books and past characterizations for him.
Their office environment seems pretty stupid though, and everytime I'm faced with Lincoln in a book it makes me bitter for what could have been. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved Loved Loved! Finally we get Emma and Alex Cassidy's story and it is a great one! After their almost wedding blows up Emma and Cassidy effectively ignore each other. That was easier when he didn't work for the same magazine conglomerate as she did and it was impossible once he became her temporary boss. Cassidy thinks it's not only time to get over the past but to find out what really happened. He assigns a story to Emma that he hopes will help uncover all the past and help them both move on.
This entire series is fantastic and I think this may be my favorite of all. I definitely recommend it.
