About this audiobook

When Elsie and Bert Jones move with their children, Ann and Arthur, to Candle Lane, a modest street in Battersea, they miss their comfortable house in Wimbledon. But the move is the right thing to do, as it will enable Bert to finance his new removal business. They are a warm-hearted family, and Elsie soon makes friends with her less fortunate neighbour, Ruth and her daughter Sally. But before long Elsie realises that all is not well in the house next door...

Kitty Neale

Kitty Neale was raised in South London and this working class area became the inspiration for her novels. In the 1980s she moved to Surrey with her husband and two children, but in 1998 there was a catalyst in her life when her son died, aged just 27. After joining other bereaved parents in a support group, Kitty was inspired to take up writing and her books have been Sunday Times bestsellers. Kitty now lives in Spain with her husband.

I was thoroughly enjoying this book then as I neared the end looking forward to the conclusion, it stopped abruptly half way through chapter 40, a message said I had reached the end of the book when in fact there should have been 41 chapters. This has happened to 3 of my books from Scribd & it spoils the anticipation of my next one. I have emailed customer service to advise them so they can try & stop it from happening again & spoiling others enjoyment.
