About this audiobook

The story begins in the Hawaiian territory in 1941 when Kim Kahana is a young island boy. He experiences a carefree and happy childhood. He attends a traditional school and goes to the Hawaiian ritual area for another kind of education. In the ritual area, he learns about his Hawaiian culture, beliefs, legends and dangerous form of martial arts. The lessons are considered as the supreme and fundamental sources of power, being and truth.

Then on December 7th, 1941 Kim’s island life suddenly changes when Japan attacks Pearl Harbor. This act thrusts the United States into World War II. After the attack, martial law is enacted by the American military forces, which dramatically changes the lives of all the islanders. They must now endure less freedom and a strict, military controlled environment. Under martial law, anyone can be arrested and jailed without reasonable cause. Any man, woman or child out after curfew faces the risk of being jailed or shot.

Kim occupies his time by learning the lessons presented in the ritual areas. He also works long hours in the sugar cane plantations and practices to maneuver the machete with precision. He is an excellent student in Hawaii’s form of martial arts and becomes an expert. Kim escapes the circumstances of his life when he goes to the docks. While there he talks to the soldiers and hears their wonderful stories about life on the Mainland. .They ignite in him a strong desire to go to America.

Finally his chance comes when the war. ends. He stows away on a cruise ship. It's not what he imagined when he arrives. He encounters danger and endures unimaginable hardships. He uses two secret weapons, along with a spiritual and strong attitude to survive... His journeys lead him to become a Korean War Hero, who became blind, a legendary Hollywood stuntman, fire sword dancer, martial artist and a sensei. His life journey is truly a heartfelt, exciting, empowering and inspirational.
