"An enjoyable, exciting, and action-packed read… at its core, just fun.” –Associated Press
An extraordinary and emotional adventure about unlikely friends and the power of choosing who you want to be.
Jamie woke up in an empty apartment with no memory and only a few clues to his identity, but with the ability to read and erase other people’s memories—a power he uses to hold up banks to buy coffee, cat food and books.
Zoe is also searching for her past, and using her abilities of speed and strength…to deliver fast food. And she’ll occasionally put on a cool suit and beat up bad guys, if she feels like it.
When the archrivals meet in a memory-loss support group, they realize the only way to reveal their hidden pasts might be through each other. As they uncover an ongoing threat, suddenly much more is at stake than their fragile friendship. With countless people at risk, Zoe and Jamie will have to recognize that sometimes being a hero starts with trusting someone else—and yourself.

Editor's Note
Charming, quirky adventure…
Two archrival super(anti)heroes walk into a memory loss support group. Mind Robber (aka Jamie Sorenson) and Throwing Star (aka Zoe Wong) put their differences aside when Jamie agrees to use his mind manipulation powers to restore Zoe’s memories if she helps him pull off a banger of a bank robbery. But, things get complicated — in the best sort of way. You won’t want to forget a minute of this charming, quirky adventure from sci-fi star Mike Chen (“A Beginning at the End”).

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5We Could Be Heroes is a fantastic blend of superheroes and mystery.
After Jamie aka the Mind Robber & vigilante Zoe Wang meet at Memory Loss & Dementia Support Group, they discover they lost memory around the same time. And they both have extraordinary abilities. Zoe wants to learn about her past, and Jamie wants to rob enough money to fly away with his cat. But working together, they can solve the mystery of their found powers and memory loss from two years ago. Maybe they could even be heroes...
I'm in love with the flawed heroes that Mike Chen created. They feel so real and grounded despite abilities, and I love the friendship that forms here. LGBTQ rep and platonic friendship. A true kick to the feels. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Fairly mediocre, the writing was lazy and the narration left a lot to be desired, for some reason most of it done in a "mysterious narrator whisper" that felt unnecessary.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent, entertaining, fast paced and funny. Well done, great afternoon pick me up???????
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was a fun and satisfying story. The writer broke out of common stereotypes and tropes, making the story unpredictable and the characters engaging. I was looking for a casual story to listen to while working on other things - this fit my needs perfectly. I hope there's a sequel.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Quite a simple story but refreshing with its focus on villain/vigilante friendship, making them both a better person.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5It is a en entertaining book however it failed to get me to care for the main characters. They seem to change personalities for no apparent reason, at least not related to the plot or their journey of growth. It is a 2.5 but I had to round it down as other 3 stars at least got me to care about the end.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Mind Robber and Throwing Star are both amnesiacs who woke up one day two years ago with powers and no idea of who they are. Since neither really knows themselves, the reader and the characters are finding out at the same time which makes for a fun and action packed story. I really enjoyed this book. Felt like a good Marvel style story.
