About this audiobook

It is 1886, and the government has given the US Cavalry control of Yellowstone. For widowed hotelier Kate Tremaine, the change is a welcome one. She knows every inch of her wilderness home like the back of her hand and wants to see it protected from poachers and vandals.

Refused a guide by Congress, Lieutenant William Prescott must enlist Kate's aid to help him navigate the sprawling park and track down the troublemakers. But a secret from his past makes him wary of the tender feelings the capable and comely widow raises in him. As they work together to protect the park and stand firm through injustice and tragedy, they may just find that two wounded hearts can share one powerful love when God is in control.

Regina Scott

Regina Scott started writing novels in the third grade. Thankfully for literature as we know it, she didn’t actually sell her first novel until she had learned a bit more about writing. Since her first Regency romance was published in 1998, her stories have traveled the globe, with translations in many languages including Dutch, German, Italian, and Portuguese. She is now the author of more than 50 works of warm, witty historical romance. She and her husband of over 30 years live south of Tacoma, Washington, on the way to Mt. Rainier. She has driven four in hand, dressed like a Regency dandy, learned to fence, and sailed on a tall ship, all in the name of research, of course.Sign up for her free newsletter at https://subscribe.reginascott.com so you'll always know when a new book is out or on sale and receive exclusive short stories.

This book is an historical romance, from the get-go. Not my favorite genre, but I hope it's wonderful. New to me author. To be published later this month. 3Oct2020Just didn't get into this book. Maybe I should wait until books are published to read them. Not sure if it's the author, subject, characters, plot (lack of), or setting. Or maybe my circumstances at the moment :-). If you like clean semi-faith-based historical romance you should consider reading this book. I will, as always, read other reviews after this is published. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through LibraryThing.

A fun clean romance with a strong female lead who doesn't let anyone push her around. A bit of adventure with lots of interesting historical facts and descriptions of Yellowstone. An enjoyable read!

This is the 2nd book in the American Wonders series. I did not read the first book but was able to read this one without missing details from the first book, so it can be read as a stand-alone. Although I found it to be slow at times and it did take me a while to read, I found it to be an interesting book, as I do love historical fiction stories. It has good character development. I will read more from the series.

A woman running an inn in the newly formed Yellowstone National Park must be made of stronge stuff. And indeed, Kate Tremaine is full of determination. She is determined to hold onto her Inn, even if her husband is no longer living. She is determined to protect the natural wonders she adores - even if that means being stern with her guests when they stray too close to the mud pots or geysers. Most of all she is determined to keep her son Danny safe and provide a secure home for him. When she first meets Leiutanent William Prescott, she is not sure whether or not is presence will help or hinder her in her goals. But then he offers to help her fix up her inn if she helps guide him through the unfamiliar territory he is sworn to protect. Soon they discover their interests are very much aligned. Unfortunately there is also a poacher on the loose - and he is determined to get rid of those who are meddling with his killing and trapping. This was a fun read, though I thought some of the plot points and characters lacked believablity. The best aspects were the descriptions of Yellowstone at the time it was first becoming a part, and the two warmth portrayed between William and Kate and Kate's son. I also enjoyed the scenes with Kate's cook and her delicous sounding pies. Fans of a romances full of warmth and that will take them away to a a place filled with natural beauty will enjoy this one.

I enjoy stories set in the past as it gives me a glimpse into how people lived in a story formation. I have been to Yellowstone so I can see how Kate would love her land and want it to be protected. She finds herself showing her beloved land to Lieutenant Prescott as he must track down those who do not respect the land. He needs a guide and she has the ability to do just that. Along the way they get to know each other and grow closer to the land and each other. I received a copy to read, the review is mine.

Let me start by saying how gorgeous the cover is. It is very eye popping and inviting. Inside the cover is a story so full of enjoyment I didn’t want it to end. I have not been to Yellowstone National Park but I did get to virtually tour it by way of the author. Her details make it easy to feel like you have a ring side seat as the story unfolds. Kate is a delightful character with a big responsibility running a hotel. Her dedication to her son is enduring and she will do anything to protect and provide for him. There is a little snag on the land she is leasing from the government and I couldn’t wait to see how this turn of events would impact the story. Now let’s talk about the dashing Lt. Will Prescott. I liked him immediately. He is there to patrol for poachers and anything out of the ordinary. I did like how Kate and Will slowly build a relationship. I was intrigued by how these two people would work together. Set against a beautiful backdrop we find Kate learning to trust and a lesson on forgiveness. It also emphasizes that there is beauty in everything if we give it a chance. I received a copy of this book from Revel Reads. The review is my own opinion.

Have you ever been to Yellowstone National Park? How about Yellowstone in 1886? Author Regina Scott gives readers a view of the way this national park may have been 134 years ago and the title says it all. Even then, Yellowstone National Park was Nothing Short of Wondrous but it was in danger of being destroyed. I felt like I was there as Kate Tremaine witnessed her beloved home being threatened by poachers and vandals and I could feel her relief when the United States Calvary was sent in to protect it. One of the soldiers proves especially helpful and when her young son Danny is kidnapped by a poacher, it is Lieutenant William Prescott who does all he can to reunite this mother and son. As they feverishly work to find Danny, Kate finds herself drawn to this man who is so different than her late husband! Toby had been one to take chances, never considering the consequences. Will tended to think things through, look for possible problems, and resolve them before they grew. He appeared to be a man one could count on. The urge to do so was surprisingly strong.I enjoyed seeing Kate and Will's relationship develop and sweet little Danny added a wonderful addition to the mix. Will wasn't just attracted to Kate, he was also drawn to this little boy who needed a male figure in his life. They, and other memorable characters, along with the vivid descriptions of the beautiful forests, geysers, and endangered bison, make this a book that kept me reading to learn more!Nothing Short of Wondrous is rich in historical detail and its romance is sweet but intense. I certainly recommend this book to all who enjoy Christian historical romance.I received a copy of this book from the publisher. A favorable review was never required and no monetary compensation was given. These are my own thoughts.

Kate Tremaine is a strong and tough widow, raising her young son Danny, and running a hotel in Yellowstone Park. After the tragic sudden death of her husband she had developed the grit to deal with what came her way. The only thing she loves more than her son is the park itself. She ferociously guards it against anything that might harm its natural wonders and beautyLt. Will Prescott of the U.S. Calvary has come to patrol the park to protect it and put an end to poaching animals. He has a past he is ashamed of. Kate and Will become friends and develop deep feeling for each other. Setting aside the personal obstacles they perceive, there is danger and complications regarding the park. I have never had the privilege to visit Yellowstone and didn’t know much about it other than Old Faithful and bear stories. I thoroughly enjoyed all the descriptions of its beauty and uniqueness. The dangers of the park’s natural wonders were surprising. One can only imagine how wonderful it was in the 1800’s. I actually went and researched it to learn more. The author’s vivid depiction of Kate’s Gateway Inn was delightful. How she cared for her guests, the meals, the special touches. *Sigh* So comforting and homey. I guess it played at my lifelong dream to own bed and breakfast. But seeing as how I struggle to make my own bed daily and eat no more than oatmeal for breakfast that this vision is probably not in my future! I thoroughly enjoyed this book!I received this book from Revell Publishers in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated are my own.

“She laid her head against his chest, as if listening to the sound of his heart. And his heart, the heart he’d buried eight years ago in Oregon, beat harder. For her.”Wyoming is one state that I’ve always wanted to visit. In my mind I always picture it as a place of forested wilderness because my grandpap worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps there in the 1930s. Reading about Yellowstone National Park and the incredible terrain of the surrounding area somewhat surprised me. It isn’t a place that I would feel comfortable living in, at least not as it is in the novel, but I do think that it would make for an unforgettable visit, and I certainly enjoyed the time I spent there with the characters in this story.Aptly named “Nothing Short of Wondrous,” this second book in Regina Scott’s American Wonders Collection, which can be read as a standalone, plunges readers into life at Yellowstone about 14 years after it has been recognized as a national park. Featuring a young, widowed proprietor named Kate Tremaine, Scott brings to light the challenges of maintaining the integrity and purity of the land and wildlife, particularly the bison, a task given to the U.S. Cavalry. Determined to protect her home and her son through her livelihood, Kate agrees to serve as a guide to the soldiers, including Lieutenant William Prescott, whose past haunts him. As they work together through several harrowing situations, they both begin to heal from the guilt that has caused each to shutter their heart. As much as I admire and love the main characters, the story would not be as fun or as complete without the secondary cast. There is seven-year-old Danny, of course, and the selectively mute but courageous Caleb. My personal favorites are Mrs. Pettijohn and Miss Pringle, spirited sisters who encourage and add light humor to just about every situation. There are a few characters whose motives I questioned, and I will leave it to fellow readers to tease out their own theories about these. Within the pages of this novel lies a message that resounds clearly in these chaotic days: that God alone is in control. No matter how much we plan and prepare, the unexpected is an inevitability. That is why we need to mature in our faith, spend time with God in His Word, and truly come to know Him, because when we do, we can rest assured that He knows the end from the beginning and that nothing will ever happen outside of His will. As Kate remarks, “I’m learning that God wants to hear from us. He wants to hear from you too.”I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Title: Nothing Short of Wonderous (American Wonders #2)Author: Regina ScottPages: 336Year: 2020Publisher: RevellMy rating: 4 out of 5 stars.Yellowstone National Park, ever been there? Or how about the Grand Canyon which is the setting for the first book in the series titled, A Distance Too Grand? In her newest book, Regina Scott introduces the main character Kate Tremaine and her son Danny. Kate is a young widowed woman who is running a hotel the government allows her to on land they leased to her, at least until the end of the year. Kate either has to get an extension of the lease or find another way to make a living.Lt. Prescott is a man whose past never seems to be far from his memory, or that of other members of the cavalry. He is tasked with helping patrol a section of Yellowstone from poachers and others who wish to harm wildlife or other folks. When he meets Kate Tremaine, he begins to sense that something might just indeed be blossoming between the lady and himself. However, once she finds out what is in his past it will more than likely cause her to walk away.It took me awhile to get involved in the story as the action or pull of the tale didn’t seem to be as strong as it was in the first book. I enjoyed the romance, history and theme of faith in the story and some of the characters made me smile. I wanted to read the book because of the historical facts that the author brings to life that I hadn’t known before. Perhaps for others they will get lost in the pages quickly and rave about it, for me it seemed somewhat lacking. However, I will read her third novel which will be the same type as the first book and this one, historical romance. I hope the third book includes a little more adventure and mystery than this one. The setting for the third book is Mt. Rainer, featuring the first woman to climb to the top. History is a big draw for me in deciding to read a book, so while this was a slow one for me to get excited about, I did enjoy reading the novel.Grab A Distance Too Grand and Nothing Short of Wonderous, then let me know what you think of these tales of romance with historical flavor.Note: The opinions shared in this review are solely my responsibility

I really like the concept of this series - inspirational historical romance set in different spots of American Wonder. The first book in the series took place at the Grand Canyon and this installment featured Yellowstone. Both have completely unrelated characters so there is no harm in reading this series out of order since there is no continuity. The US Calvary has just been tasked with patrolling Yellowstone and keeping not only the visitors, but the park safe as well. Widowed Kate Tremaine and her young son own and operate one of the few hotels allowed on the park. She's anxious that her lease be extended because this is the only home her son has ever known, plus she loves the geysers that her hotel looks out upon. Congress, Lieutenant William Prescott has been tasked to look over the part of the park that Kate's hotel is on and they strike an uneasy truce. Kate will show him the ins and out of the land acting as their guide - in return Prescott and his men will help her with some manual labor around the hotel. The unlikely pair start falling for each other - and danger in the park draws them even closer together. Clean, wholesome, and fluffy. Great historical romance with a beautiful scenic background.

I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was delighted to read this second one! I love the detailed, scenic descriptions of the sprawling wilderness of Yellowstone, and the author made it easy for me to envision the wild wilderness. I liked the characters in this novel a lot and liked how tragedy brought them closer and developed them both individually and their relationship throughout the story. This book grabbed my attention with its action. I think some of the plot is a little predictable, but I do not think that this detracts from the story overall. I do not think you have to read this series in order but for more good historical fiction set in the enchanting wilderness, be sure to check out the first book as well! I look forward to the next book in the series!I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I love learning about American history, and books set in the late 1800's are among my favorite reads. "Nothing Short of Wondrous" is Book Two in author Regina Jennings' "American Wonders Collection Series". The story takes place in Yellowstone National Park in 1886, during a time when the US government sent the Calvary to safeguard the park and its animals. Widow Kate Tremaine has her hands full raising her young son, Danny, running her hotel, the Geyser Gateway Inn, and protecting the park. Lieutenant Will Prescott needs Kate's help as a guide and instructor to help him and his men learn the ways of the park. He has no authorized funds to pay her, but in exchange for her assistance, he will help her with repairs and upkeep at the inn. Working together and spending time in each other's company sparks an awareness and attraction between Will and Kate. When Kate's husband died, her life changed in ways she never expected. Will is still dealing with an incident from his past which set him back personally and professionally. When Danny is abducted, Will and Kate must stand strong in their faith in each other and in their own spiritual faith to bring Danny safely home. Author Regina Scott has done a wonderful job of creating compelling characters and infusing her story with fascinating historical detail. Readers will also enjoy the first book in the series, "A Distance Too Grand". The "American Wonders Collection Series" is highly recommended for lovers of inspirational historical romance.Book Copy Gratis Revell Books

Nothing Short of Wondrous, by Regina Scott, is book two in the American Wonders Collection. This story takes place in Yellowstone National Park in 1886. Kate was widowed a year earlier and is now the sole owner of a hotel in the park that is in need to repairs. Lieutenant Prescott and his unit are new to the area and in need of help with learning where they can safely go. The two make a deal that he will help with repairs if she helps him and his men learn the area. This is a great story that is filled with strong caring characters. The writing is so clear it is easy to imagine the colors and smells of the volcanos. The parts to me that stand out are how the men treated her, her son and her employees. I also likes the theme of forgiveness that runs through the story. Will is working hard to regain his spurs and Kate is struggling with her husbands death. This a really good, easy to read story. I got hooked right from the beginning and wish there was more to follow through on Will and Kate’s story.I received an e-book copy of this story through NetGalley, this is my honest review.

Nothing Short of Wondrous by Regina Scott is the second book in American Wonders Collection. It can be read as a standalone if you have not read A Distance Too Grand. I thought Nothing Short of Wondrous was well-written with developed characters. The story moved along at a gentle pace. The author certainly did her research for this book. She painted such a vivid picture of Yellowstone National Park. I could envision the park in my mind with its numerous natural wonders along with flora and fauna. Regina Scott really made the park come alive for me. The story was intriguing. The Calvary were working with limited resources to protect such a large amount of property. It was hard to believe that people were out to destroy such beautiful animals and natural wonders (like the paint pots). I learned some interesting facts about Yellowstone National Park. This book got me curious to learn more. I liked the action that kept the story moving forward to its delightful conclusion. The romance was nicely done. I liked that it did not dominate the story. We get to see people get to know each other while enjoying each other’s company. They learn to trust each other as well as respect each other while they fell in love. Lt. William Prescott had an issue in his past that drives him to be a better man. I think it enhanced the story without adding drama to the relationship. I liked the various characters in the story. Alberta, the cook, was one of my favorites along with Kate’s curious son, Danny. I look forward to the next tale in the American Wonders Collection. Nothing Short of Wondrous has friendship, mystery, suspense, romance, action, faith, and family all woven together into one interesting tale. Nothing Short of Wondrous is a multifaceted historical novel with perilous paint pots, a curious kid, a problematic poacher, besieged bison, a chivalrous Calvary officer, and an impressive inn owner.

An ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Good historical fiction story set in Yellowstone 1886. Kate is a widow with a young son running the Geyser Gateway hotel. The army cavalry has been dispatched to help monitor the park for poachers, and Lt Will and his small party of privates has been dispatched to the Southern portion, that includes Kate's hotel. Good plot, with someone trying to force Kate's hand to sell the hotel. Very nice descriptions of the scenery. Now that I've read this book, adding Yellowstone to the bucket list.

After the death of her husband, Kate Tremaine has worked hard to keep their Yellowstone Park inn running. Between protecting the natural wonders from thoughtless guests, ruthless poachers, and greedy outfitters determined to see her gone, romance is the last thing this mother of one is looking for. Lieutenant Will Prescott has a stain on his past and he knows he must clear it before he can think about the future. But their hearts have different ideas as they work together.Though it has been years since I visited Yellowstone National Park, the author did an excellent job of bringing the place to life on the page. Kate Tremaine has a passion for the park she has come to call home. The one point that kept taking me out of the story was how Kate continually said she was too busy but easily dropped whatever she was doing to ride out with Will, many times to show him something. Will was a nice character. He had a loyalty to his post and determination to redeem a mistake he once made. Though he knows he shouldn't, he falls fast for the beautiful widow. The plot moves at a nice pace, though there were so many times I was frustrated because I had figured out a plot point and the characters did not until the end. It was a nice, relaxing read.I received a free copy for reviewing purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you in advance to Revell (a division of Baker Books) for providing a complimentary review copy through the author’s launch team/early reviewers. A positive review was not required and all words are my own. Last year I was introduced to many genres of books – Christian Fiction, Christian Suspense, Amish Fiction, and Historical Fiction. As of note, I wasn’t always a historical fiction fan. In fact I am surprised by how many books of this genre I now have in my collection. Last year, through JustRead Tours, I was introduced to the beautiful writing of Regina Scott who also rights Regency Fiction (that’s a genre I haven’t yet read). I loved “A Distance Too Grand” which is book one (#1) in this series. That took place in 1871 showcasing the Grand Canyon. This book, “Nothing Short of Wondrous” takes place in 1886 (some 15 years later) and features Yellowstone Park. And, while it is part of the American Wonders Collection – the books are not connected by characters or places. The only connection is that they are part of the parks. This is actually nothing short of amazing. Truly amazing. From the gorgeous cover, which is absolutely stunning to the exciting end – this book is wondrous and amazing. The characters are also well balanced and rounded. The main two – disgraced (and given a second chance by the U.S Army) Will Prescott and feisty widower and hotelier, Kate Tremaine are both trying to avoid romantic entanglements. This is clear right from the beginning. Loved the plot – there were SO many points to it:** Kate’s worry about her hotel lease** Arson ** Slander and libel against Kate** Kidnapping** Will’s secret shame** Kate’s husband’s death** Mystery poacherWith a supporting cast of characters and “guests” the suspect list to the poaching and arson fires is definitely an interesting one. There was one early “visitor” that I thought was going to be trouble that wasn’t.Readers might be shocked to discover one miscreant hiding in plain sight. I was beginning to have my doubts early on about the person, but really couldn’t have guessed who it was. It was definitely a good plot device. And, despite this being more of a romance, there are a few mysteries to solve in this stunning, exciting, and dramatic story that explores Yellowstone during the Army’s control of the park written with a touch of humor, vivid and sweeping descriptions of the wonder that has become a national treasure. Given such picturesque details, it is almost like taking a virtual tour around the park without leaving home. The description and inclusion of the sight-seeing spots is like the map that Kate is to draw for Will and his men to keep them safe in the majestic park. And, Kate wants to prevent another accident at all costs – like the one that claimed her husband. This remains a secret from Will until about chapter nine (9). Will’s secret isn’t revealed until chapter 23 when the real idea of “courting” Kate comes into play, though the “romance” part is planted about halfway through. The events, which occurred eight (8) years before the start of this story, are definitely disturbing given today’s racial climate. Scott is respectful to keep details to a minimum and doesn’t overwhelm the reader. These events have taken a toll on Will’s career to be sure. Yet, in the middle of this – there is a tale of redemption, second chances (for both Will and Kate), and seeing past the flaws of our lives. Will does learn to take control of his future when he is forced to make a decision regarding his career. Scott is careful to remain authentic to the time in keeping the romance slow and realistic to the times while still keeping the reader interested. The kidnapping mentioned in the blurb comes nearly three-quarters (¾) through and didn’t last but two (2) chapters.Written with short chapters, this is such an exciting read, it is almost hard to put down. The only reason it took me a few days to read it was due to other obligations I had. Otherwise this would’ve taken less time. There is a slight printing glitch on page 86, but it doesn’t affect the story or reading the book. I would’ve liked to have seen the kidnapping drawn out a bit, and there was one issue that wasn’t solved. But, otherwise, this is a stellar read. And, I would love to someday visit the parks – the Grand Canyon as well as Yellowstone as these books give such a wonderful accounting of their history. It definitely makes me appreciative of the efforts to conserve them even as far back as the late 1800’s. As this is distributed by a Christian/faith themed publisher, there will be references to God and faith. This does have bible references and a story, faith services, and prayers. This is done in a manner that is realistic to the times and is not integral to the main plot of the story. The title comes from something that Will says as one of the last lines of the story. Fans of historical fiction, particularly by the author, and those who’ve read the previous book are sure to enjoy this offering. Regina Scott’s writing is about to make a historical fiction fan of me yet – along with other authors on the list!I am eagerly awaiting the third book in this series! Hint – Mt. Rainier! I also enjoyed the mention of The Presidio (San Francisco) for several reasons.

I asked to review this book for LibraryThing because it was set in Yellowstone National Park and I think that is a beautiful park and was hoping to experience it again vicariously through the book. It lived up to my expectation beautifully in its rich description of the park and its features and beauty. While I enjoy historical fiction, it is not my favorite genre and I confess I am not much into classical romance novels, of which I would deem this one. So, while I enjoyed the book's setting immensely, I was less involved with the story line or the characters. That, however, is not the fault of the author and persons who love historical romance will certainly love this book. It just took me longer to get into and to finish than most Revell novels I have read. I was pleasantly surprised that one character in the book whom I thought might be sinister turned out not to be, and was validated in the fact that another character whom I definitely thought suspicious certainly was. This is a great book for a person who enjoys romance novels.

This second book in the American Wonders Collection takes place in Yellowstone National Park in 1886. Kate is a widowed innkeeper, raising her young son, and trying to make a success of her inn. She is troubled by many things, not the least of which is the untimely death of her husband. She struggles with getting supplies, keeping her guests happy, and protecting the park and its animals and natural wonders. When a handsome cavalry lieutenant and his men arrive to protect the area, a mutual attraction seems inevitable. Will comes with his own set of problems lurking in his past. They must be confronted, and only then will the two of them be free to face the future and the problems that await them. This series has much to commend it. The settings are wondrous, just as the named infers. The writing is excellent. The storylines are intriguing, and characters are real and well written. All these factors combine for an entertaining and informative tale.

I am not usually a fan of books with historical settings, but I do enjoy this series from Regina Scott that's set in early days of out National Parks. The setting for this one is Yellowstone (in 1886). Scott manages to let us know we're in a historical setting without overly belaboring the point or churning out paragraph after paragraph of historical data that slow down a storyline. She also does a good job of describing the vista and scenery and incorporating tourist sites--some which still exist today. (I can't guarantee that all of the ones she lists do since I've not been to visit the park.)There is a gentle romance that develops between Kate and Will over the course of the story. I think her getting to know him before he revealed the incident from his past to her probably was one reason she was so accepting of him upon learning it. Both Kate and Will seem to gain respect and loyalty from their employees/troupe. Most of Kate's employees seem to plan to return for the following year. (There's one maid that I wasn't so sure about.) And I doubt that if Smith had told the rest of the men about Will's past incident that any of them would have requested to be reassigned. I do wonder if Alberta will end up in a relationship with one of Will's men (which seemed to be hinted at in this book). It doesn't seem like the next book will be set in Yellowstone (based on the teaser chapter at the end of this book)--just like the first book in the series was set nearby but didn't have anything to do with this book other than that both are set in National Park areas. I did suspect who and where Jessup was before the author revealed it. NOTE: I received a copy of this book through the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Program in exchange for an honest review.

Nothing Short of Wondrous (American Wonders Collection) by Regina ScottPublisher: RevellRelease: 20 Oct 2020Reviewed by: mrsboone4, Green Forest, AR, USAIt is hard being a woman in 1886, even harder being a widowed woman with a small, energetic boy. Kate Tremaine lives at Yellowstone, with her young son Danny. She has a contract with Yellowstone, as a concessionaire to provide lodging at Geyser Gateway, their little slice of heaven. There are several other lodging houses in Yellowstone, some looking quite grand, but they do not offer the wonderful home like experience that Kate provides. Frequently, her guests feel much like family, when they are leaving. There is a regiment of US Calvary men who have arrived at Yellowstone to put a stop to the destruction and illegal poaching that is occurring in the park. This is an overwhelming job. So many places to get injured for tourists and the Calvary alike.Second Lieutenant Will Prescott is assigned to protect and patrol the area near Geyser Gateway. He finds himself attracted to the lovely Widow Tremaine and her darling boy Danny.Interesting how the author brings in a little suspense, some romance, the Christian theme, one of the first National Parks in the United States of America and the US Calvary into a very interesting story. This story greatly appealed to me, we live on the outer boundary of a National Park. We encounter a lot of tourists every day. Many thanks to Revell and LibraryThing for the complementary copy with no obligation to post a review.

Through the eyes of the author we get to see the beauty of Yellowstone, and yes I have been there, but this is when the government has given the US Cavalry control. We are given a widow who is running a hotel in the park, and raising a precocious six year old boy, he is such a delight. We find out why she is a widow, we see and meet least savory characters that make an illegal income poaching, and we meet a Lieutenant with the Calvary, that is determined to stop this horrible crimes. Our Lieutenant has a secret that took him down once, and we learn it and. The effect it had on his career and life. We see sparks fling between Kate, our widow, and Will, our Lt. but can they overcome the obstacles that are thrown at them? Now this is the second book in this series, and yes, it can be read alone, but you might want to read the first once you pick this one up!I received this book through Net Galley and Revell Publishing, and was not required to give a positive review.
