About this ebook

Amanda Hocking is an indie publishing sensation whose self-published novels have sold millions of copies all over the world. Step into the world of the Trylle, and prepare to be enchanted….

When Wendy Everly first discovers the truth about herself—that she's a changeling switched at birth—she knows her life will never be the same. Now she's about to learn that there's more to the story…

She shares a closer connection to her Vittra rivals than she ever imagined—and they'll stop at nothing to lure her to their side. With the threat of war looming, her only hope of saving the Trylle is to master her magical powers—and marry an equally powerful royal. But that means walking away from Finn, her handsome bodyguard who's strictly off limits…and Loki, a Vittra prince with whom she shares a growing attraction.

Torn between her heart and her people, between love and duty, Wendy must decide her fate. If she makes the wrong choice, she could lose everything, and everybody, she's ever wanted…in both worlds.

As a special gift to readers, this book contains a new, never-before-published bonus story, "One Day, Three Ways," set in the magical world of the Trylle.

Although the language was a bit adverbial, and full of unnecessary details about body position, and what people "seemed to be thinking" (I longed to grab a red pen and cross out all the redundant words), what cannot be denied is that this is a compelling story. Now that I have read the first two instalments to read the third is a must. What this author does best is to create a web of emotional attachments within her fantasy scenario, relying on forbidden love against a class structure. I am sure the political storyline makes sense if you analyse it properly (though for the life of me I cannot follow all the feuds, historical battles, intermarriages or figure out why the truce that was agreed made sense) but it hardly matters because this is essentially a teen romance and from that angle it works. My favourite line in the book (and I hope this doesn't count as a spoiler) was the comment "I sorta feel like throwing up now" following the acceptance of a proposal of marriage. Ridiculous and perfect. The standard of the writing was definitely better, more free flowing, towards the end.And as a bonus we are treated to the news that "There are no trolls in the Virgin Islands". This has got to be good for tourism if nothing else.

I really like the story line of the second book and I feel like the pacing is much improved from the first novel. The characters are still too unexplored for my taste. For example, Loki exits every time his character gets interesting and Willa flips her world outlook in one scene.

I was impressed with Wendy's growth in thus novel. She finally understands that she must make hard decisions and accepts the consequences of those decisions.

** spoiler alert ** I liked this book more than Switched (not that I didn't like that book), but I thought that the story picked up and had more of a flow (building tension, climax, resolution, etc.). The characters seemed better developed too. We were introduced to a couple of new ones this time as well. In Torn, Wendy decides that she's done with Elora and the Trylle and that she's taking Rhys (her human counterpart) to meet his real brother, Matt. So, off they go. But, her decision to walk away from the Trylle and their world wasn't as easy as she assumed. Wendy soon discovers that her real father is alive and well and she gets to meet who has been after her from the start (the Vittra). After being rescued, Wendy finally has some actual conversations with her mother and learns more than she could have ever imagined about her life and about her future as the Princess and, ultimately, the Queen. Hocking does a good job showing how Wendy must grow up and learn to make difficult choices for the good of those around her. My biggest problem with Torn was that Wendy seems to keep attracting boys who cause her to flush, and feel tingly, and warm inside. Maybe this is just a reflection of the intended audience (YA), but it is a little shallow and juvenile. With that said, I thought that Hocking did a better job of wrapping up this second book better than the first one. It seemed to have enough of a resolution to feel like it was supposed to feel, but yet it left enough open for a third book. I will definitely read more that Hocking has to offer.

I'm really enjoying this trilogy. The plot flows well and the characters are interesting. I'm also relishing the romantic tension and chemistry between the main characters. I went straight into book three. I couldn't wait.

While I really enjoyed Switched, it was absolutely nothing compared to Torn! This one was so much better. I didn't even realize that book one was lacking that extra spark until I read this. Hocking really steps it up a notch and I was so satisfied! The end of book one certainly left me craving more and Torn really delivered.

In Torn, Wendy has a lot of decisions to make and I certainly don't envy her. I love how she faces everything with such courage and determination even though really, she is in way over her head. She's not even 18 yet and the future of an entire kingdom is resting on her shoulders. Wendy went from having one torn apart family to having three- her ''host'' family, her mother and her kingdom, and her father and his kingdom. There are a lot of emotions at play and I liked watching Wendy handling everything. It can be hard to know what to believe when everyone's telling you something different and I admire how she approached the whole situation.

I love that we really get to know more characters in this one. We really get closer to the Queen throughout Torn. She's not the most open or emotional of people but I enjoyed learning about her past and how she plans on dealing with the future. I think everyone will like seeing Wendy get to know Elora better even if it's not a typical parent-child relationship! She's quite a complex person and I both like her and dislike her at the same time.

Loki was the high point of this book for me! I think he's a fascinating character and adored every conversation he had with Wendy. There's just something so likable about him and I love that he doesn't take anything too seriously. I definitely enjoyed all his scenes in the book! We don't see Finn as much in this one as in book one. I still really like him but it's hard to get a real impression of him when he goes from open to mysterious in the blink of an eye. He's much more in the background than he was in the first book.

Amanda Hocking is brilliant at world-building. It was really great to get to know a little more about the history of the Trylle and their rivals. Everyone in the book seems to have secrets of their own and I definitely liked uncovering them. Torn really moves the plot along and I think some people will be a little shocked at the direction it's taking- I personally am! Fans of Switched will love this one and I'm very excited to get to book three to see how it all wraps up.

I devoured this book faster than the first novel in the series. Very good character development. The growth of Wendy into Queen is completely believeable. Fast paced and interesting. I am very much looking forward to reading the final novel.

Well done for a middle of the series book. It starts out well for those who might be joining the story late, but moves along quickly as the reader discovers more about the Trylle kingdom Wendy is to inherit. I read this in one day and was happy with the way it ended off, leaving the reader wanting more but not being a heart-wrenching cliff-hanger as a lot of authors are prone to.

Just finished Ascend and Torn by Amanda Hocking. The story/plot line minus the romance was really good! When I finished Ascend, I was completely taken by surprise. Maybe it was because I read it on a nook and wasn't paying attention to the page numbers but I was so into the story that I didn't want it to end! In Ascend, Wendy is kidnapped by King Oren and meets Markis Loki, the prince of an enemy kingdom. More of her background unfolds as she learns more and more about her family and the warring troll kingdoms and she must figure out if she wants to live with King Oren or Queen Elora. All the while, she still feels a strong pull to Finn but must face a possible future with Toven Kroner at her side. In Torn, everything comes to a head and Wendy must figure out how to keep her kingdom safe while protecting everyone she cares for. On top of keeping her people safe, she must dig deep and decide just who she wants at her side: Finn, Toven, or Loki. I'll give this series a 5 out of 5. I really enjoyed these books. I have to say that I didn't like her choice in men at the end. Though I understand why she did it and that it's more like real life. All in all, REALLY GREAT SERIES!

This is the second book in the series by Amanda Hocking. The novel starts off with Wendy returning to her "host" family after Finn walked out of her life. A few hours after she arrives she, Rhys and Matt are kidnapped by the Vittra. Wendy soon finds out that Elora was not forthcoming about Wendy's fathers identity which makes for some confusion, frustration and betrayal. The three are soon rescued by 3 members of the Trylle and returned to Elora. Wendy learns that she is subject to an arranged marriage and will soon be crowned as well. While I enjoyed this light/fun read it definitely wasn't as good as Switched. With that said, I need to read the third book so that I can have some closure. :)

I wanted to know more and now I do, but now I need to know the end. Typos plaque this book, but the story is good and I want to know. Wendy is a strong female lead who can get the job done, but shes stuck in love with someone she can't be with and must marry another, even while yet another offers his love. This is keeping my attention. I love the relationship between Matt and Wendy and the quirky Willa. Rhys is cute and sweet, very innocent. Running a kingdom is not what Wendy wants to do, but she feels the need to especially after meeting her father. Kidnapping, escaping and storming the place are all exciting and when she learns to move items with her mind shes on her way. Her mother is dying and she learns the truth about her people.Any age would like this, Wendy is 17, so its great for the teen.

I'm still not quite sure what I think of this series. I am finding it to be a bit more tedious than I thought it would be after reading My Blood Approves. I'm a huge fan of Young Adult novels, but this seems more juvenile than most YA series. The writing is not as well done, nor as creative than I thought it would be.I like the premise of the story, which is why I've continued reading. Plus, I have never been able to stop reading a series without seeing the conclusion. So, hopefully, the third and final book will be better.

Wendy discovers more about the Vittra, learns who her real father is, makes decisions about who she'll marry, and faces one tough choice and hard situation after another. I appreciated how much she learns and grows, although I'm still hoping she'll have a happy outcome. I also worry about what will happen to Loki. I'm very eagerly awaiting the third book.

This is the second book in this trilogy. The first book, Switched, gave the history behind the Trylle and some history of Wendy. At the start of this book, Wendy and Rhys, who is Wendy’s mänsklig, leave Förening. Förening is the place where the Trylle live and Wendy was taken to in the last book to keep her safe. When she returns to her home in Florida with Rhys, her brother Matt is excited to see her. It isn’t too long before Finn showed up to protect Wendy once again. After refusing his help and that of the tracker who was assigned to her, Duncan Janssen, the two trackers unwillingly leave. This leaves an entry for the Vittra to kidnap the princess.Wendy put up a fight when the Vittra came in and attacked her. When Loki Staad, Vittra Markis or royalty, helps in the capture of Wendy, Rhys and Matt. When she wakes up, she is in the dungeon of the Vittra palace and is confused about what had happened at home. She then finds out that she is more of a princess than she thought and understands why both the Vittra and Trylle want her to reign. She also is introduced more to Loki and she is confused by him because he seems to want to help her but then again, he is the one who kidnapped her in the first place.Duncan, Finn and Tove finally come to rescue her, Matt and Rhys. With the help of Loki, they are freed and on their way back to Förening. While there, Matt learns about the Trylle and Wendy’s history. Wendy also learns more about her mother, the Queen. The Vittra break in during Wendy’s Christening Ceremony which causes the Trylle to reinforce their security. It isn’t too long before the Vittra try another tactic and Loki is captured and held prisoner. This is when he has more access to Wendy as she is trying to figure out everything that is happening between the two kingdoms, and at the same time, find out she was arranged to marry.I read through this book quickly. It went much smoother than Switched, because there wasn’t as much history in the book. It was all action. I had a lot of questions that remained from the first book and this one created so many more. After I finished Switched, I immediately downloaded Torn, so I could read it. The print version is expected to come out until February, but I couldn’t wait that long. I am excited for the print versions to come out because in my ARE of Switched, it says that there will be a bonus short story with each of the books.I like:▪Wendy. She is the heart of the books. She is confused in this series about how important she is and what she means to the Trylle and Vittra. She is trying to figure out things for herself instead of just believing what people tell her.▪Finn. He is the Trylle that Wendy first met and fell for. In this book, he tries to pull away from Wendy even though he cares for her because he knows that it is the right thing to do.▪Matt and Rhys. Wendy’s brother and mänsklig. They are Wendy’s side through everything. Even though Matt doesn’t understand everything about the Trylle and their society, he tries to be a good big brother for Wendy and thinks of her safety first. It was good to see more of Matt in this book. I was also happy to see that Rhys was spending more time with Matt.▪Willa. Wendy’s friend in Förening. She is helping Wendy through a lot of the stuff in this book, including the planning of her upcoming nuptuals. ▪Tove. He is the Marksis Kroner and is teaching Wendy how to use her talents. He is a patient person and works really well with her.▪Loki Staad. Yes, he kidnapped Wendy in the beginning of the book, but he has some good qualities about him. He helped Wendy, Rhys and Matt escape from the Vittra palace. Also, when Wendy is questioning him in the Trylle palace, you get a sense of who he is.▪Sara, the Queen of the Vittra. She is on the “bad” team, but she is a good person. She helps Wendy when she is hurt and also comes to retrieve Loki.▪Elora, the Queen of the Trylle. I like her more in this book than I did in Switched because you get a better picture of her and what she has been through in her life.I Did Not Like:▪Oren, the King of the Vittra. He is a nasty person who likes other people’s pain.▪Finn. I’ve put him on both sides on this book because there are things that I like and do not like about him. I didn’t like the fact that even though he thought he was doing the right thing, he was essentially abandoning Wendy when she had the most stress and needed him the most. In trying to stay apart from her, he also was hurting himself.▪Aurora Kroner. Again, she wound up on the do not like list. She says whatever she wants and doesn’t care who it hurts. I don’t like people like that.CoverThis isn’t really fair because I have seen the covers on the print version that are coming out and I really like them. On the e-book version, you see the blue sky with stars, some flowers and what looks like a spider hanging down from the flowers. The word torn is written across the top. This cover is very basic and doesn’t tell you anything of the story at all. The print cover (pictured to the right) is very colorful has a girl, whom I presume to be Wendy, sitting on her knees in a field holding a crown. In the background you can what look to be gates. There is a part about gates in the story, but I didn’t think it was important enough to put on the cover. The crown, however, is integral to this book. Overall, I like the print cover and the e-book cover leaves much to be desired.

In “Switched”, the first book in the Trylle Trilogy, we’re introduced to Wendy Everly, a girl who finds out that she’s not only a changeling, but also a Princess. With the first book, Hocking did a terrific job of setting up the world of the Trylle, as well as introducing us to the various characters that lived inside of the palace. In this second book, however, Hocking focuses more on developing her characters, as well as introducing the reader to the world of the Vittra. As you may recall, I admitted that while reading “Switched”, I wasn’t originally a big Wendy fan. She came off as bratty and spoiled. But in “Torn”, she’s much stronger, more willing than ever to do whatever is needed to protect those that she loves – even going as far as to sacrifice her own happiness. The story itself picks off shortly after where “Switched” ends, with Wendy and Rhys escaping back to her host family. But Wendy’s plan doesn’t go as well as she hoped. After Finn and Duncan (a new tracker whom you’ll come to adore), fail to lure her back with them, the Vittra stage an attack, kidnapping Wendy. And this is where my favorite new character comes into play, Loki.Loki is quite the charmer. He’s the complete opposite of Finn, which I found to be a nice change (don’t get me wrong: I do like Finn, but Loki is a welcome addition). He’s witty, laid back, and willing to risk a lot for Wendy – even though he hardly knows her. It’s clear from the moment they meet there’s a connection, and while I’m not a huge fan of love triangles, I think Hocking handles this one wonderfully. There are a lot of twists in “Torn”, enough to keep the reader fully engaged until the end. I thought I had these characters pegged, I thought I had an idea of where Hocking would be taking Wendy’s story next…not so much. That’s what I enjoy about this series: Hocking is able to take you on a journey with her words, and you never truly know where it’ll lead you to in the end.“Torn” is a fantastic sequel to “Switched”; Hocking has crafted a wonderful world full of fantastic characters that you’ll easily lose yourself in.After reading the first two books in the Trylle Trilogy, both of which I enjoyed immensely, I can safely say that I’m a Hocking fangirl now. No doubt about it. Now if only April would hurry up.

Amanda Hocking did it again!Torn, the sequel to her self-published Switched, was even better than I expected! This is a fast-paced read, but the characters are so likeable and well-developed that you can't help but get drawn into the story. In Torn, we find out a little more about Finn and his family life. His walking away from Wendy comes from a deep, dark family secret. One involving the affair of his father, Thomas, and the queen. Wendy and Tove become closer as Wendy prepares to rule the kingdom. What I can't wait for is the final chapter of this story!

This is the second book in the Trylle series. I was super happy to having receive this book for review since I really fell in love with the first book. This book picks up where it left off back in world fighting for power. Wendy is on a mission to find out what is causing all of the tension. I really like that in this book Wendy doesn't let up on anything. She gets stronger and much more feistier. There are other characters in the book that I really loved getting to know better, even ones that I didn't like. I really loved reading all of the back story on the characters. It creates a better basis so I feel more connected to the characters as I read the book. The love interest in the book is still straining for me! I wanted more between the two and I can only hope that I will be able to read a happy ending. I do love that the love interest is now more open in their feelings rather than squashing them away. My heart always soared when they look at each other!!I really love how the plot line is coming together in the book. You can definitely tell by the end of the book that so much is going to do down in the last book. More secrets and plans are exposed and I can't wait to see how the author wraps up the series.Torn is a collide of win, action and romance! Fascinating and moving, Torn is a great read!

This is the second book in the Trylle trilogy. This was a decent book. This series is entertaining enough, but nothing super creative or special. Readers who love YA paranormal books will probably like this series.Wendy has tried to escape the Trylle and their drama by returning home. When she, Matt, and Rhys are kidnapped by the Vittra she finds herself in the thick of things. Enter Loki a Vittra who helps Wendy and crew...he also makes things a lot more complicated. Will Wendy finally decide to take on her responsibilities as a Trylle princess or will she follow her heart? This is a pretty typical YA paranormal book. Wendy has multiple love interests, all of which she is torn up over. She has to choose between love and duty. It is all a bit cliched but decently done nonetheless. My problem with this book is that it doesn't really have anything to set it apart from a million other YA paranormal books out there. Yes, it is about trolls...but the way they are treated you could be reading about fairies and not know the difference. I do love that it is set in Minnesota, but was a bit disappointed that this never really influences the story or features in it.If you enjoyed the first book you will probably enjoy this one. We get to learn a ton about the history between the Trylle and the Vittra, and what a complicated and convoluted past it is! We meet some new characters; most notably Loki (one of the Vittra) with his cutting sense of humor and daring. This book starts out action packed and then kind of turns into dramatic filler. Yes, we need to learn these things to back up the story and some of them are interesting. My problem is I never found this story really compelling. Wendy could have been any one of hundreds of other YA heroines; she never really distinguishes herself to me and I have trouble keeping her separate from other YA heroines I've read about. Wendy constantly thinks she wants Finn, but Finn is pretty much a jerk to her most of the book. There is a lot of "I love him, I hate him" going on between him and Wendy...this is great for those who love that kind of thing, but I am not a fan.The book is well-written, easy to read, and natural sounding. It's a decent read and somewhat entertaining. It just didn't feel like anything special to me; when I was done I wasn't desperately wanting to read more, I was just kind of like "Huh, okay well on to a different book."Overall a decent continuation of this series. Those who loved the first book will most likely love this one. I am having a bit of trouble with this series because it just seems like such a typical paranormal YA novel; the Trylle are a lot like fairies, Wendy isn't all that unique or interesting, and there is a lot of teenage drama/romance. I did like learning some of the background behind the Trylle and Vittra; I also enjoyed Loki as a new character (he has more personality then all of the other characters put together). If you read the first book and enjoyed it go ahead and read this one. If you want an action packed YA series with a touch of romance check out Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, The Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa ,The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver, or Mythos Academy by Jennifer Estep..I think all of these are better paranormal YA than this book.

As this second installment of the Trylle Novels is rereleased on February 28th, I thought I’d reread and review this book to encourage some people to pick it up. This series by Amanda Hocking is creative, wonderful and hard to put down.In Torn, book two, we again follow Wendy, the changeling and Trylle princess, on her adventures. This time though, Wendy gets herself and her friends in a little bit of a predicament. After fleeing the Trylle compound with her biological brother Rhys, she returns to her old home to see her adoptive family. Once there, she and her family members are captured by a different breed of troll and taken to a different compound, far away from their Minnesota home. Once there, Wendy begins to find out a lot more about herself and the past that Elora has lead her to believe was the truth. Without giving too much away, this book introduces us to a sort of love triangle? Square? Trapezoid? I’m not exactly sure which shape it creates but Wendy has to sort through some serious feelings as she has three different boys vying for her affections. As if that wasn’t enough, she must also make the choice between her duty and her own free will.I loved Torn even more than I loved the first book, Switched. In this story, we are further immersed in the Trylle society and learn more about their customs and their royalty. We also find out a lot about Elora’s past and Wendy’s true parentage. Hocking leads her readers down an inventive and action packed trail as she throws twists and turns at us from every direction. We see Wendy grow up a bit in this book as well. She begins to realize what it means to be the princess and how sometimes, one has obligations that sometimes make free will impossible. She really struggles with this throughout the book after she ran away and saw what the effects of her behavior had on her people. This is one of my favorite things about Wendy, she learns from her mistakes and she matures before our eyes. It’s great to see her grow up and grow into the role of a future leader. It’s also interesting to see her learn how to trust. It’s hard for her after finding out that she was a changeling and that her whole life was basically a lie. She struggles to make sense of her patch work family and to find a place in both worlds that try and claim her.Again, this was a very well written book that I could hardly put down. The characters are well thought out and the plot and setting are very detailed and descriptive without being too heavy. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Hocking's work and this book doesn’t disappoint. If you haven’t given these books a try, definitely pick them up because they are very much worth the read. You’ll never be able to turn the pages fast enough!** Ascend, the final installment of the Trylle Novels will be rereleased on April 24th, 2012!8 out of 10

First of all I love that this book starts right where the last one ended. Which means we get right down to business from page one. I like that everything is so secretive. Eventually you learn one secret, but realize there are still so many others you don't know. And all of those characters have some startling reveals towards the end of the book. It's also exciting to see how Wendy's powers are developing. I'm anticipating a rather action packed finale where not only Wendy, but the rest of those who have powers will finally get to use them. Overall this book is fantastic, and I can't wait to see how the series will end.Once again this was a good and rather insightful short story. I liked how it was from 3 different pov's. And I was rather shocked that out of the 3, Tove's pov surprised me the most. He is a great character and means well. His motivations for doing things, I think, would benefit both he and Wendy. Even if he hasn't told her his full intentions yet. And of course, Loki's story just makes you feel sorry for the poor guy.

The second book in the Trylle Trilogy picks up right after the first leaves off, with Wendy and Rhys escaped from the Trylle palace in Forening and staying with Matt, Wendy's sort-of foster brother and Rhys's actual brother. But changeling Wendy isn't safe, as she's soon attacked and taken prisoner by a warring faction, the Vittra. What exactly do they want with her?Though this book wasn't quite as action-packed as the first one, we start to learn more of the Trylle - trolls who practice leaving changelings with rich humans, of which Wendy is a Princess - and the Vittra, and if not why they're at war in the first place at least what their recent history has been. Wendy finds herself making tough choices that could impact the rest of her life and the troll peoples well into the future.

Also posted on Lovey Dovey BooksTorn is just as addicting as Amanda Hocking's first book in the Trylle Trilogy, Switched! From the intriguing history of the tension between the Trylle and Vitrra to the charming characters surrounding Wendy, readers will be captivated. The most favorable aspect of Torn is that the story picks up right when Switched ended. There's enough background information to remind readers of events in the last novel, but it's not overbearing or wasted space. The story's pace is still quite fast. Amanda doesn't spend too much time in each scene, only long enough to set the tone and move the story along.A couple new characters are introduced and the story allows readers to better know the characters seen in the previous novel. Hocking takes a unfavorable path for character Tove as his sexuality comes into play in this version of Torn. It's a slightly cliché path and lessens the uniqueness of the novel. Tove makes decisions based on duty, but apparently that idea is not sound enough because his sacrifices have to have a more tangible reason. Readers will still grow in anticipation as Wendy learns the fate of her people and continues to prepare herself for her future reign as queen. Torn is the next enchanting stop before the series finale in Ascend, where the fairy tale continues.

Find this review and more at On The Shelf! This is the second book of the Trylle Trilogy and it continues Wendy’s struggles with being a troll princess and the duties that come with it. Several things come out in this book, some I figured out, others were a surprise. I like Wendy even more in this book than the first, though sometimes she can still be a bit immature. I also like Tove and Loki (I already liked Tove, but even more now; he is just so loyal). I am not quite sure why Wendy still has feelings for Finn, but I guess you can’t really help who you fall for, right? We get introduced to some new characters who are from the Vittra, and their king is definitely one for my dislike list. He is horrible! We still don’t really get to see much in the kingdom, except for a small glance. I still would like to see some more descriptions in places, and I noticed some words the author favors. In Switched, she favored creepy and foxy, now she added smolder to the list, so be prepared to hear those words a few times. Stuff that irritated me in the first book luckily isn’t present in the second book like how she would get in trouble for not automatically knowing things about the Trylle. I liked the way it ended and I can’t wait to see how everything works out because I really want everyone to be able to be happy. The book was a really fast read and I flew through the discs. The same narrator is used and she still does a great job. I look forward to the finaly book and to see how things wrap up.Characters more developed, same great narrator, over use of some words, still want more descriptions.

Not as good as the first in the trilogy, but very enjoyable all the same.

Wendy's story continues with being rebellious and getting captured by the Vittra. In doing so she ends up finding out who her real father is and that he really isn't dead. Wendy has many decisions to make as finding out who her father is puts a wrench in things and gives her more options than she realized were viable with the Trylle it also gives her more realization of her responsibilities as a princess and heir to the throne. All the while she still loves Finn the Tracker but she realizes she cannot be with him as she would like and along with that there are many other twists and turns that keep this story going and interesting. Excited for the next installment in this series.

Another book I bought solely based on the cover. I really should start reading the backs of books. But lucky for me, this one was okay.

Who knew a book about trolls would be good. I found it interesting. It was different. Another part to the fantasy world and I was happy I found it.

It follows the new life of a teen. Running and fighting and becoming a princess! Scandalous makeup sessions and a marriage to a gay man. Oh my!

It was pretty funny and entertaining.

They only thing I didn't like, was teen pregnancy and how okay it seemed. How everyone just accepted it. I know it happens, but it shouldn't be glorified in books.

There were some distracting typos in the smashwords edition of Torn, particularly in the first chapter. But Hocking is a born storyteller and there is a strong narrative which keeps the interest despite the poor editing. In this second book of the Trylle series, Wendy begins to grow as a person and in her mastery of her Trylle powers. A love triangle (or square) develops between herself, Loki, Finn, and Tove. And Wendy must decide between her attraction to Loki and feelings for Finn or her duty as Princess of her realm. This is a pleasant enough read but not a whole lot happens action-wise. The developments here are more in the relationships between the characters and exploration of Wendy's Trylle powers.
