Introduction
A few years ago I could have kicked myself a thousand times over. It all started when I became a mother of three babies. I was constantly cleaning them with wipes. After they pooped, after they ate, after they did what all babies do. One day, I discovered the wipes cleaned their high chairs quite well. I began to wipe anywhere they left their smudges. And then, well, why not wipe the kitchen counters and bathroom cabinets too? They were a great and quick fix when guests were about to arrive and I had to have some semblance of order and cleanliness. The wipes were soon becoming my best friends in every room of the house! I began to imagine what a convenient household cleaning product these could be. I could create some for glass and counters and others for wood surfaces. For years I thought about my great idea. I talked to all my friends about it. I laughed about my quick cleaning techniques. But then came the: I- should –really- kick –myself- moment. I began to see wipes with clorox at the supermarket. Then the ones for wood came out. Then the ones for cars and so on and on and on.
How about you? Have you ever had blockbuster idea then a few months or years later, boom! There it is. Your idea is sitting pretty on the supermarket isles. The truth is you’ve had more than one idea in your lifetime. Probably more than you even care to count or discuss depending on their outcome. Our minds are full of ideas. We have ideas for inventions, books, songs, businesses, ministries. Ideas can range from being simple to complex. We can’t avoid them because we were created to have ideas. Look around the earth. It’s terrain is vast, it is deep, it is rocky, soft, hot, cold, wet and dry. Look at people. No two fingerprints are alike and daily more people are being born in the millions! God is a creative Being. And He created us in His likeness. That means the human race shares His DNA. We were born to have creative ideas and put them to use. Unfortunately, because of circumstances, disorder, discouragement, procrastination, laziness and just plain ignorance sometimes our ideas fizzle right there in our brains without ever having had the opportunity to see the light of day. The ideas may fizzle but they never die. I say this because the ideas that we don’t act upon will be given to someone else to act upon. That’s why it is possible to have mentally kicked around some great problem-solving invention for years and finally one day you actually see it somewhere but, created by someone else.
As you read on, you will learn how to discern between the good and bad ideas. I’ll help you discover how to get your wonderful ideas from floating around your heads to becoming a tangible reality. Ideas give us a big clue to what we are supposed to be doing with our precious time here on earth. We’ll learn to pay attention to them so that at
