Character Guide

THE BEGINNING

PROLOGUE

HIS DARKEST THOUGHTS

As I lie in the darkness, I can’t help but bear to think how life is so unfair. While everyone else around me experiences the grand blessings of happiness and peace, I’m stuck here with a heart full of malevolent and rageful desires. I’m bound to restrict my true emotions of anger and lust for revenge from everyone. But I can no longer bottle these feelings inside. As you instructed, I have desperately searched for a new purpose and ambition to get past these feelings; but I have realized that I am only running back to my problem. Your request has brought out the worst in me. Although I knew this day was coming, I tried to avoid it. You can’t hide me from the world anymore, and I intend to reveal myself to the world whether you like it or not. You knew just as well as I that the day would come; and now, that day is today. Today is the day where a king will rise out of the ashes, and along with that king, a new world will be born.

ONE

THE ANNOUNCEMENT

Gods are all around us, and each of them have an important role in life. However, one God in particular has played the most important role. He is well known to all existence. This God is known as The Father. Of all his many children, the Father had two sons who stood out. Luke, the eldest son, was a familiar face to everyone and always had a light following him. Lucifer, the youngest, was the mysterious, quiet one. People found Lucifer the most remarkable person in existence. Everyone pleaded and begged to spend time with him. All anybody wanted was to be around him.

Eventually, many of the children in Heaven asked the Father if there was somewhere else they could go. Life to them had become boring and they wanted a new life routine to live by. They constantly wondered what it was like to have a physical body and they were desperate to receive their own.

The Father agreed to give everyone a chance for a new beginning. He came up with a plan. They would journey to the planets where he would give his children the ability to choose Good from Evil in everything they thought, did, and said. His plan was known as The Plan of Agency.

Before the Father sent his children off to prepare for their new life, he warned them to always respect and protect the Serpent God, a man who the Gods trusted to hold and preserve agency. He warned them that if the Serpent God is ever tampered with, that the special power he holds will be destroyed; and everyone will be forced to do things beyond their control.

After hearing the Father’s plan, many searched for Lucifer to talk to him and obtain his valued opinion. However, Lucifer had disappeared. Luke finally discovered him at the Lake of Memories. Something was very off about Lucifer as he gazed deeply into the lake. His eyes were full of hatred and anger.

Luke appeared behind Lucifer. Lucifer, you’ve been missing for weeks. You haven’t been anywhere on the radar.

Lucifer didn’t respond.

Luke persisted, Lucifer, what happened? What’s going on?

Lucifer stared down at the lake in silence and then he saw something. The reflection in the lake made Lucifer explode. He’d bottled his anger for so long that he couldn’t hold it in anymore. Lucifer gave out a scream and his power was unleashed.

A wave of fire swept over the entire forest. Instantly, the fire ate away at the grass, the flowers, the trees, and the animals. Lucifer continued to scream, feeding the fire more power.

Luke placed his hand on Lucifer’s shoulder and yelled, Lucifer! We all know you’ve lost something special to you! But you have us to replace your great loss! We all love you and need you! We are all here for you! Please, calm down! You know the consequences of this kind of behavior!

Lucifer turned towards Luke viciously and Luke stepped back, deeply afraid of his brother. Lucifer shoved Luke back until he pinned him against a tree. He yelled angrily, It’s time for things to change around here! If I can never be at peace, then neither can ANY of you!

Luke yelled back, You can be, Lucifer! You have us!

"No! None of you will ever replace my loss! I lost something that can never be replaced and none of you seem to understand that! Not one of you pitiful fools will have to feel what I feel inside! I’m miserable, angry, and full of hate, Luke! I’ve had to force a fake smile on my face every day! But now, this is where it all changes! I will no longer be the only one feeling like this! ALL of you will feel and experience what I have! Each and every one of you will feel the aching pain of losing something special! Your beautiful lives will burn to ASHES! I may be living in Noah’s shadow, but I know now that he was right about whom I am!"

Luke struggled against his brother’s hold and barked, Lucifer, NO!

"I’m the Devil now, Luke! I can’t fight my hate and rage any longer! I must give into it and become what I’m meant to be! In a matter of days, I will announce that I am the ruler and King of Hell! When you all realize who I really am, I will make you cry and wish you never lived! You will soon be miserable, angry, and full of hate, just like I am! You will all forget what peace is and what happiness is like, just like I had to! You will only know how to feel miserable! I will make sure each and every one of you never cracks a smile again! If you resist my wrath, you will be peeled layer by layer until you’re absolutely nothing! You will all feel my pain! ALL OF YOU!" Lucifer turned away angrily and walked back up to the lake. He squeezed his eyes shut and a tear rolled down his cheek.

Luke was absolutely speechless and absolutely terrified. After a long moment, Luke finally stood his ground and said, Lucifer, don’t do this! You’re letting Noah win! Your son will come back because you’ve been promised that he will! You have to trust Father’s timing, remember?!

The Father’s voice boomed, Luke, that’s enough.

Lucifer’s eyes got wide and he looked over at the Father in silence. He had heard their entire conversation and Lucifer knew he was in for it.

Luke, leave your brother and I alone.

Luke blurted out, This isn’t him talking! Noah has gotten to his head!

The Father spoke calmly, Enough Luke. Leave us be.

As instructed, Luke vanished, leaving the two of them alone. Lucifer immediately looked away from his father and gazed up at the blazing forest.

The Father said, Mind telling me where you went?

Lucifer didn’t answer.

Heavenly Mother stood by the Father’s side. Lucifer, honey. Please tell us the truth.

Lucifer took a deep breath and said, I paid someone a visit. We had a long talk. Lucifer reached inside his harsh black robe and pulled out a satanic artifact. He tossed it to the Father.

Heavenly Mother said softly, You paid Trident a visit.

I’ve never seen you express such hateful words before. Are you trying to tell me – time’s up? the Father asked.

You and I both know time’s up. It’s time I officially announce what I’m meant to be.

Heavenly Mother began sobbing and clung to the Father. The Father closed his eyes in disgust, deeply saddened.

Lucifer began giving speeches about the Father’s plan. He gathered followers, using their fascination with him and their fear to promise a much greater future for them than for those who agreed to follow his father. Lucifer twisted the Father’s plan immensely to advance his own plans.

After Lucifer gathered many slaves, he declared war. And so the war between Good and Evil began.

As Lucifer was being escorted from Heaven, with all of his followers marching behind, a little boy ran up to him. Lucifer stopped and faced him. Keaton, he whispered softly.

Keaton frowned, Why are you doing this? Where are you going? Didn’t you promise me we’ll be together forever?

Lucifer crouched down and grabbed Keaton’s arms, staring into Keaton’s eyes silently for a moment.

Keaton sobbed, Don’t leave me. We’re friends forever, remember?

I can’t stay Keaton. You and I had our times but – it’s time I move on. Things have changed.

Where are you going? Keaton asked.

I’m the Devil, Keaton. I’m going through the dark void to a place called 'Hell', where I belong.

Keaton looked very sad and confused. He didn’t understand. You’re my best friend. You can’t leave.

And you’re my best friend, Keaton, but this is where we go our separate ways. Hopefully, you’ll understand one day. I have to go.

Lucifer turned away and Keaton tugged on Lucifer’s robe.

Keaton said sadly, absolutely crushed, Will I ever see you again?

Lucifer gazed deeply into the boy's eyes. A tear rolled down Keaton’s cheek and his eyes suddenly burned an icy blue, deeper and bluer than any human eyes. Keaton’s eyes were usually a lifeless gray, but as he stood there crying, they burned blue. Lucifer said softly, It can’t be possible. Your eyes are the same unique color as his.

Keaton tugged on Lucifer’s robe, desperately wanting his answer. Lucifer crouched down and hugged him goodbye. He whispered in Keaton’s ear, You will see me again. I promise.

Lucifer gave his father a deadly, vicious look before he slipped away and walked through the portal. The portal closed. Lucifer and his followers – were gone.

Keaton was crushed. He never imagined Lucifer leaving his side. Keaton hoped Lucifer would keep his promise.

In another universe, a man named Noah Millender was on his way to speak with the Serpent God, known as Seth Raulu. Seth had been trapped in between universes for eons due to his immense crimes. His cruel abominations had placed him here against a shrine, where he could never set foot on land again. The Gods found it the perfect punishment for Seth since they were desperately trying to hide him from the forces of Evil as well. They wanted him safe so no one could destroy the Power of Agency. Agency lived within Seth, and he granted everyone in existence the ability to choose Good from Evil.

Noah approached Seth’s shrine and immediately got down on his knees. Seth’s eyes rolled out from his brain. He looked out into the open for the first time in centuries. Seth blinked twice, realizing that a visitor was bowing before him. It had been so long since Seth had talked to anyone. Seeing Noah was practically a miracle for him. Seth cracked his neck and his jaw before he said a word to his slave. Noah waited patiently for his God to speak.

Seth’s chocolate brown eyes immediately turned to a dark cascade of black as he spoke. I can hardly remember the last time I spoke with you. How long has it been, Noah?

Seth cracked his shoulders and snarled like a roaring beast, trying to get comfortable with his second awakening.

I believe it has been five centuries since we last saw each other.

Seth roared angrily. He was louder and more monstrous than the lightning that continually cracked away at the ground near his cave, a hellish storm that Noah had traveled through upon his return.

Seth snapped his head back down to his chest, hissing, You displease me, Noah. Do you wish to know why you disappoint me?

I doubt I want to hear it, Noah said sarcastically.

Seth yelled, Why has it taken you five centuries to wake him, Noah?! You have the perfect motive to set him in his place! I freed you from the muddy waters of hell with this deal and you have completely forgotten my part of the bargain!

Before Seth could blink, Noah had him by the throat.

Noah barked, "I did not come here to argue with you! I
