Introduction
It’s always hard to toot your own horn, but I’m a pretty darn good cook.
However, to give credit where credit is due, I owe it all to my Mom, who really is the BEST cook I know! If you don’t believe me, just ask my Dad, or all the people she’s cooked for through the years as a wife, mother, head cook and food service manager. Yeah, she’s that good!
Anyway, as the head of a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial family, I’ve learned to cook a lot of different dishes. Being a California kid, born and raised, I’m not content with anything too bland or filled with fat and salt. I admit that I’m spoiled. I’m accustomed to a variety of fresh ingredients, readily available at the local grocery store or in my backyard garden.
On the flip side of that coin, I was a commuter for most of my brick-and-mortar working days, so there were times that I really, really needed to take some shortcuts. Thus, there are times I do use canned goods or pre-packaged items. There’s nothing wrong with that – in moderation!
As I raised my children, cooking the foods that we enjoy and learning new recipes, I started adding my own
