Roxanne Nicole

Hi! I'm Roxanne Nicole! A student who happens to be an author while currently attending Chanlder-Gilbert Community College and pursuing to own my own counseling practice one day! I am very interested in Psychology since it explains why people behave, think, and feel. I may be going to school and be an author, but I love enjoying my time with my friends and family! Family is everything to me and I look forward coming home to them every day! As for me and my writing, I started creating stories ever since I could pick up a pencil and jot down my ideas. Writing was an escape from reality for me. It's a way for me to breathe and continue to make it through another day. If you asked my family and friends, they would best refer to me as "A Woman with a Large Imagination". Teachers would always find me writing in the middle of class too and always appreciated my love for the art.

    Prologue

    2077

In a world with much chaos, known as planet Earth, there have been four World Wars, but that doesn’t even begin to describe the extraterrestrial concerns of Earth.

Near Earth’s beginning, in 90,000 B.C. there lived a Demon. This monstrous Demon described throughout time brought a Demon army from a planet known as Melekure. She was looking for something. Unfortunately, what she was looking for was unable to be found.

In retaliation for not finding what she came to Earth for, she killed and conquered a third of Earth’s population. Her Demon army spared the women, but killed the children and the men. The Demon army tamed the women as their own. Ever since, a line of humans and immortals have been born with Demons inside them. Some severe, some not.

And when all seemed lost for the human race, the Demon was finally tamed and put to rest inside someone’s soul. She would remain there forever if he never shed a tear. He cannot feel sorrow, he cannot mourn, he cannot cry.

But in 67,000 B.C, he did cry. His son was slain by his enemies and he knew if he released the Demon, her power would resurrect him, but as a consequence his son would carry an even more monstrous Demon in return. The man risked it so his son might live, so they could be together again.

After the Demon ruled with terror again for many decades, she was tamed again and put to rest inside another person’s soul. She would remain there forever unless the woman woke her.

Now, in the year 2077 A.D., technology and medicine are very advanced.

There are now flying cars, perfected robots, phones that can show you what the other person is doing, computers that find exactly what you’re looking for, and cures for all mental disorders and cancer. Video games for children now have helmets and gloves that literally take you into the gaming world. Amputees can have their limbs grow back and the handicapped can walk, hear, speak, and see again.

As for law enforcement, there are more laws than ever before, but enforcement is lacking. Prisons are overflowing and many criminals are let out each day, only to be replaced with even more dangerous criminals. The justice system is broken.

Chaos is all around and things are changing – constantly. But there live several characters who are related to the Gods. They are the Earth’s heroes, and they will bring an end to the darkness that is coming.

No one is aware of this darkness except the Devil himself.

He lives to ruin loving relationships and bring an end to all happiness. He manipulates people into self-sabotaging themselves. He loves to get ugly reactions out of people and laugh as they burn. Will he stop the darkness that is coming? Or will he manipulate everyone as he always has?

    Chapter One - Elroy

    Fall - 2077

As Elroy’s heavy eyelids opened, slow, consistent loud beeps rang through his ears. A tremendous, sharp aching pain shivered through his muscles, making him groan. As his eyes gradually adjusted to the light, he peered around the room, seeing nothing but white.

He examined his hands, which were tightly wrapped in bandages. Wires had been attached to his arm and dug into his skin. Questions quickly filled his foggy mind.

Where am I? How did I get here?

He looked up, about to call someone’s name, but stalled when he found Lucifer standing at the doorway.

Lucifer stepped into the room, glaring at Elroy sharply. He circled his bed, saying nothing.

Finally, Lucifer took his wrist into his hands, examining the mark burned into his skin. Salk swore you weren’t going to make it, yet you pulled through. Do you remember anything, Elroy?

Elroy looked up at his father blankly. No, I don’t remember anything. What happened?

The Gods tried to kill you. They know what you’re capable of. They know what you can do.

Elroy was baffled. Capable? Capable of what?

Lucifer peered into his eyes. You’re my son, Elroy, my prince. You and I are more alike than you realize and that alone scares them. Not only do you have my desires, my passions, and my thoughts, but you are also capable of performing an art so dangerous and so important the Gods had no choice but to attack.

He brushed Elroy’s hair back, leaning closer. They will never stop trying to kill you until you are dead. We’re lucky Salk and Zohx could utilize such extremes to keep you away from them while you heal.

I don’t understand, Elroy stammered. Why would they try and kill me?

The Gods fear you. They fear you will wake the monster that lives inside someone. But if you don’t wake this monster, Lucifer leaned in and whispered in his ear, everyone will die.

He stepped back. We’ve been cheated out of a great life, Elroy. The life we live in isn’t what was planned for us. You know exactly what happened, and they fear you will remember one day. When you remember how it all began, how our lives ended up like this, you’ll understand there was never a Heaven or a Hell, never a present, never a future, never a past. We’re stuck in Limbo, cursed to live our lives until you, our savior, fix this. We will die one day. The planets as we know them are just land masses we stand on, not a real home or an actual place. Remember who you are and remember where you came from and then everything will be clearer. Until then, I suggest you rest.

Lucifer brushed Elroy’s blond bangs away from his eyes. I will do my very best to protect you. You will be under my watch. I won’t let the Gods touch you. I promise.

Lucifer turned off the lights and left Elroy alone in the room.

Elroy stared up at the ceiling, suddenly feeling under a lot of pressure. He was puzzled by all this overwhelming information. What did Lucifer mean? Were they truly living in Limbo, with no purpose and nowhere to go?

He glanced down at his battle scars, realizing why Salk said he wouldn’t make it. Lucifer was telling the truth. The Gods had attacked…and they wanted him dead.

    Chapter Two - Preston

    Spring - 2078

The negative energy flowing through the air was thick, so thick everyone could feel it. Not only was the world’s greatest warrior, Field Commander Silver Heart, in danger, but the Serpent God was holding on by a thread.

Field Commander Silver Heart lay awake, shaking with rage. He sat up on his bed and pointed his laser cannon at Lucifer, his father. The last thing Silver Heart needed during a crisis like this was to be reminded of the anniversary that Lucifer had killed Silver Heart’s son many years ago. Silver Heart still couldn’t forgive Lucifer for what he had done.

I’d rather rot in here than join you, Silver Heart hissed.

Lucifer grinned. I guess you don’t want me to save you then, Preston.

Sighing in defeat, Preston transformed his laser cannon back into his steel arm. Look, I don’t wish to argue with you tonight. I’ve had a rough day. My heart is breaking while I imagine my men out there on the battlefield, dying.

And my heart breaks for them too. Lucifer laughed. They haven’t experienced even one ounce of the pain I’ve felt! How about adding losing their wives and children to the list?

Preston shoved his father back. You will not mock my men! My soldiers suffer while they’re away from their wives and kids! Every day, they wonder if they’ll make it back to their families alive!

At least they don’t have to witness their wives and children burning to death! Lucifer snapped.

Preston stepped back and folded his arms across his chest. You’re wasting your time. I will not join you.

What if I told you that I found your brother?

    Preston’s eyes widened. You’re joking.

I’m not playing games, Preston. I found Elroy. This entire time he has been hiding right under my nose.

Is Elroy a re-creation? Preston asked.

No, he’s not a re-creation. I would know if Elroy’s soul and personality was any different. A re-creation of Elroy would have an entirely different soul, giving him a different destiny and intelligence of what he would like to become. His personality wouldn’t even be the same. And you know just as well as I do, that no one can be re-created exactly the same. If a person is ever corrupted, the person with that personality and soul no longer exists.

And you wonder why I’m so upset, Preston growled at him. You corrupted my only son!

Lucifer rolled his eyes. Will you get over that already?! He died a painless death!

Preston stood up, now very agitated. Don’t expect me to get over my son’s death when you can’t get over having both of your families burn alive right in front of you! Even over many millennia, you still complain about it and make everyone feel the same pain that you did, even when your family still lives!

Lucifer slapped him. "Don’t you ever get in my face and yell at me! You show me some respect, Preston! I’m still your father! And as for your statement, I am allowed to complain about it and make everyone feel my pain because I had to suffer with it alone for many millennia while the rest of you could have fun and be happy! I get to have the fun now and every single one of you will experience what I had before you can ever crack a smile again. If, that is, I allow you to smile again! Now, get out of my face and control your temper!"

Preston angrily backed off and resumed his position on the bed with his laser cannon pointed at his father.

How did you find out Elroy isn’t a re-creation? Preston asked, eyeing the cold, vicious look in Lucifer’s eyes.

Lucifer brushed off his robe, trying to regroup. Unbeknownst to me, Rex, the King of the Gods, saved Elroy from the fire. He’s been alive this entire time. I knew I couldn’t give up on him if you still sensed he was out there. I know for a fact you bargained with my brother, Luke, in our safe Haven, so you could come to Earth and become who you are today just so you could find him. It was your way of escaping me and your tie to Hell, wasn’t it?

Preston looked up at his father. You knew my purpose the entire time?

Lucifer smirked. I’m not an idiot, Preston. You are my son and you are a part of me, whether you will admit it or not. Your soul and your personality will always be tainted with at least one desire of mine and one of your mother’s. It’s an agreement every mother and father has with the Gods if they wish to have children. The mother and father are required to choose one desire to carry onto their children and the Gods must find it suitable in order for the parents to ever be given the ability to reproduce. You carry one of my past ambitions with you. At one time, I wanted everything to be equal and wanted to grant everybody peace. You now carry that ambition, don’t you?

It’s hard to believe you felt like that at one time.

I was a good man until I lost your brother, Preston. But when Noah Millender, the God of Hatred, visited me and put me under a strong satanic art so I’d be forced to kill Elroy, I began to discover new things and see different perspectives. I lost my way, just as Noah hoped I would. All Noah ever wanted was for me to take his place and be the Devil. He was angry that he suffered for a destiny that was never his. Killing both of my families and transforming me into this man was his way of getting revenge for what I supposedly put him through.

Lucifer must really want me to see that he is my father and he cares for me. He’s never shared his point of view about everything that’s happened in his past. But after he killed his grandson, my son, how do I know if he’s being honest with me?

Sadly, I let him win, but I let him win because of a little curiosity I had after he left me scarred from forcing me to kill Elroy. That curiosity became a temptation; and temptation is a poison. My curiosity of what it would be like to have the power Noah had was tempting and I wanted that power; power to take control of others and force them to do things against their own will. Thinking about it was breathtaking, especially after experiencing a feeling of helplessness against somebody so powerful. And eventually, that temptation ate me alive. I couldn’t escape it and it became my Devil. I had to have that power, that amazing power Noah has, and the only way he has that power was because he had been prepared to be the Devil all his life. So I studied this concept of being the Devil. I studied Noah and I took advantage of his brother, Trident, a man who knows all, so I could become that powerful Demon Noah wanted me to be. Power became my everything.

Even with the curiosity my father had after the whole tragic event, I wonder why he let Noah win. After everything Noah put him through, you’d think Lucifer wouldn’t want him to win. My father must’ve been really helpless when Noah forced him to kill everything he ever loved.

However, while that curiosity became a temptation, and that temptation grew, I desperately tried to keep my composure for the other spirits. But eventually, my emotions blew and I became the man you now see. Now that you know this, you have to admit that I’m really your father.

My father would willingly help me get out of this Hellhole. He wouldn’t stand around and bargain with me when I’m in danger.

Lucifer sighed. You disappoint me. He vanished.

Preston dipped his hat down in front of his eyes. If only you knew how I truly feel.

He looked up at the door, hearing footsteps approach his cell.

Eventually, Tyce, an alien working for Lord Cyrus, the God of War, arrived to meet with his brother, Kyce outside Preston’s cell.

Preston listened closely to their conversation.

Lord Cyrus still doesn’t have a clue we are taking advantage of him and his wealth of knowledge to wake the Demon. He believes we are loyal to him.

Good, Kyce said. The last thing we need is for Lord Cyrus to figure us out. He cleared his throat. Is there anything you need from me?

Tyce and Kyce have been serving Lord Cyrus for years. Is Lord
