Conquering the Crossroads - Amanda Ferguson

    Day 1

A woman after God’s own heart

Dear Sis: Above all else, strive to be a woman after God’s own Heart, choosing to love and serve the Lord radically and faithfully esteeming Him above all else.

Don’t send my husband into my life, until I learn to stay passionately in love with you. I want to forever burn with passion for you. That’s what I told the Lord one day as I laid out in His presence with tears streaming down my eyes. Have you decided to be completely sold out to God? Have you made the choice to esteem Him above everything else?

There is such a fulfillment that comes with knowing how much the Father loves you. He is absolutely in love with you! In fact, He loves you so much that He gave His only begotten Son, just for YOU! What greater love is there than that? God loves us with an immeasurable love. How much more can we thank Him than to serve Him with our lives? We can never repay Him for all that He has done, but we can choose to live a life that will please Him by serving Him and loving Him above everything and anyone else.

    Scriptures for reflection:

Mathew 6: 33—But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you

    1 Thessalonians 5:17—Pray without ceasing

James 4:8—Draw Nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you

    Day 2

    God’s Timing

Dear Sis: Resist the urge to settle for an Ishmael in your life, when God has promised you an Isaac. Wait.

In this microwave generation it is difficult to wait on much. Instant grits, instant pancakes, instant biscuits—they are all available almost immediately. Anyone who has ever had a homemade pancake, (now I’m not talking about the pancake mix, but the real homemade pancakes), would absolutely cringe at the thought of the microwaveable pancakes advertised as delectable delights. It’s something about homemade food made from scratch that just seems to melt in your mouth. Of course it takes longer, and the thought of having pancakes warmed up in 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the microwave is quite tempting, until you taste them. They are nowhere near comparable to my mom’s homemade pancakes.

Lesson: Anything great will take time. Never rush the process. Wait on the promise. Sarah was promised Isaac, but she compromised and got Ishmael. Never compromise your promise in an effort to get something quick. I know you are tired of waiting. However, your promise will be well worth the wait. Oftentimes, ladies settle for Mr. Convenient, or Mr. He-Will-Do instead of waiting on the man who will treat you like the queen that you are. The promised man will be a reflection of God’s love for you in the earth realm; He will be the type of man from whom you can feel God loving you through him. THAT man is worth the wait.

    Scriptures for reflection:

Psalms 27:14—Wait, I say on the Lord.

    Day 3

    Emotional Healing

Dear Sis: Learn how to separate the man from the male gender. A man from your past might’ve hurt you, but not ALL men are the same.

He only wanted her for her body. In his mind, she was irresistible. His thoughts to sleep with her were overwhelming. It didn’t matter that she was his sister. It didn’t matter that he would strip her of her virginity, confidence, and self-esteem. His thoughts were so taunting that he concocted a plot to sleep with his sister. He slept with her, and the scripture says that afterward, his hatred for her was greater than his love for her (2 Samuel 13:5). With tears streaming down her face she wondered, Why me?

That’s the story of Tamar and Amnon. Can you imagine how she felt when he raped her? Please don’t force me, she cried, but to no avail. (2 Samuel 13:12) His mind was already made up. This is an extremely heart breaking, heart wrenching story. Many women reading this have been taking advantage of. Some of you reading this have been abused sexually, emotionally, mentally, physically, and because of that, your mind and heart is completely sour to the male gender. But guess what sis. Not all men are the same. Don’t make the next man pay for what the last man did. I know you’re hurt. I know you’re wounded, and I know you want to give up on love, but God is a healer and restorer. He is ready to make you whole.

    Scriptures for reflection:

Psalms 147:3—He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth their wounds

Psalms 34:18—The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit

    Day 4

    Beauty from Inside Out

Dear Sis: Don’t spend more time applying your makeup, than you do applying the word of God. Beauty is fleeting . . .

Many women have gorgeous eye—shadows, brows arched to perfection, and flawless foundation. However, when I look deeper into their eyes, I notice a cold look, a smile of low self—esteem, and a defensive exterior. I always think to myself Who is the person underneath the makeup? I wonder if she knows who she is. Now don’t get me wrong, I love makeup, and I love it so much now because I
