Introduction
It is said that every new journey begins with a dream- a dream which seems larger than life to us and keeps multiplying throughout our life. Which walks night and day like a shadow with us.
Everyone has dreams. So what if some dreams act proudly by finding their destination while some die midway?
She had similar dreams. But it was not her own, it was a gift of her friendship.
She is strange, she never does the things she wants and what she does, she never expects to either. There are very few people who live the dreams of others. Every relationship in her life is more important to her than her own life. My relation with her is just like that, she is my childhood friend and not just a friend … she is like the other me. We cherished our childhood memories together. We share all our joy and sorrows and everything in between. Many people come and go out of our lives, few of them we remember and few become memories. But the two of us stood together for each other and will always be.
This story belongs to her. I am just a presenter… presenting a small part of her life to you. Why me? Because neither she likes to talk about herself nor she wants anybody to talk about her or praise her. She is different but very correct in her own ways.
Adhira is an angel for me and for all our friends. Yes, she is definitely an angel for us. The way she cared and nurtured our life and handled our relations so perfectly, nobody else could. She is the most beautiful girl in the world for me. She is a tall, fair complexioned girl with long straight hair, cutest face, and big eyes that has the depth of thousand oceans. She has everything that can make someone crazy; she could be a fantasy for thousands of people. Her voice is so mesmerizing that I can listen her talking the whole day. She is blessed with such a good personality that no one can forget her easily even if they have met her only once. She has a gifted personality with a good soul. But like they say, none in this world get everything, something is always left unattained". It is very easy to love someone but to get the same love from them is close to impossible. I’ve always heard this but realized it only now. Though lots of people came and went in her life, some forgot her easily (I wonder how) and some pretended.
Though whole life is less to tell you all about her qualities, yet here I’ve penned down some rainbow moments from her life. Just to let her know about her importance in our life.
So, come with me and be a part of her journey. This journey will make you think twice about our relations. Relations, we inadvertently avoid in our day-to-day life. Which we shouldn’t!
They Met Again – Accidently
It was 7:30 in the evening. The clouds had gathered in the dusky sky and the weather became extremely romantic. Adhira was going to Gurgaon after completing her work in Meerut. In between we both had to meet in Delhi and then she would continue to her home, in Gurgaon. I was worried about her so I called to know where she was.
The phone rang.
Hi Riddhi, wassup!
Adhira asked.
"Hi! You are supposed to be here by this time na! Where are you? Why have you not reached? Is everything fine?" I asked.
Are you done? Or are there some more questions you need to fire? By the way, I am on my way to Delhi.
According to Adhira, sometimes I used to ask so many questions at a time that she had to think which one to answer first.
Adhi, it’s already 7:30 and weather is also not good. And look at you … you are still there!!! One second, where are you!
Relax yaar! It’s not the first time. I’ll be there safely.
Uff… sometimes you are so hard to handle,
I said.
"Relax na! Now lemme drive. Ok bye."
Take care and drive safe.
Adhira hung up the call and increased the volume of her stereo. She couldn’t live without music. She was one big, actually biggest, music buff. The one thing she liked the most was music. Although she liked every genre, but her favorite one was the Bollywood music and her most favourite musical duo was Vishal&Shekhar. She was their craziest fan and she could tell you each and every song with full details that was composed by them. In spite of being in the same field, she never got a chance to meet them. But she never tried hard for it too. She felt that if she meet them, she would lose the craze and she never wanted that. She could live without air but not without music. Obviously, there was a reason behind her love for music. Music was something she used to have all around her since morning till evening. For the last several years music was her lifeline. Every second of her life was involved in music. I forgot to mention, Adhira was a Music Arranger by profession; she had her own studio, Rhythms. She created it for the people who had a passion for singing but with no platform to expose their talent to the world. Especially for the newcomers and college students who couldn’t afford big banner recordings or who didn’t know how to approach the music directors. She wanted to give them wings to fly towards their dreams.
Her intensions were good and since God is also kind to those with good motives, her studio too became one of the most famous and one of its kind in the whole Delhi-NCR region. Now artists from Delhi and around used to come to Rhythms for their musical work. Some music directors also came who were her friends. When she started her studio she never knew that it would be such a huge hit. She still couldn’t believe that she had done it. But she believed it or not, we were proud of her.
While driving, she saw a car idling on the roadside. It looked familiar so Adhira stopped her car. She was right; they were her ex-colleagues. Once they had been good friends but now-a-days they were just ex-colleagues. She asked them whether their car had any problem. Everyone was shocked to see her there.
Mrs. Bhargav!!! You… here?
They asked with an element of surprise.
It felt strange to be addressed as Mrs. Bhargav instead of her name and that too by her old friends. Obviously, if you’re old friends called you by your surname, it felt weird and especially when they also added Mrs. to it. It was strange but it was also a reality to Adhira that she could not deny.
Hi! I was just passing by and saw you all. What happened? Is there a problem with your car?
Adhira asked.
We think so,
Saran said.
All of them- Saran, Priya, Arzoo, and Anirudh- had been Adhi’s good friends.
Can I have a look into your problem?
Adhira asked again.
Saran and Anirudh watched her face with shock.
What happened? … I may be not a very good mechanic but I know a little bit from my own car repairing experience.
(Adhi was really very good at handling cars. She could tell you the exact problem within seconds.) They both were stumped and watched her like they were watching an alien or like Adhi was speaking Chinese.
Adhi checked the car and found the engine choked. Probably because they didn’t get their car serviced properly.
Hey! Where are you guys heading to?
Adhira asked them.
We are going to the airport. Arzoo has a flight for Mumbai.
Saran explained.
With a grin on her face Adhi said, Not possible in this car. There is a problem in the engine.
When Adhi and Saran were talking about the car, Arzoo started crying, I have to go to Mumbai. It’s very urgent but I won’t even get a bus to the airport from here.
Adhi looked at her, If you want then you can come with me. I am also going in the same direction.
No … No…! We will manage something from here. Don’t worry,
came a united response from everyone standing there.
Adhi sensed that they did not want to bother her unnecessarily. So, she said, I don’t have any problem. In fact, I am going in the same direction. And the good thing is that I can drop you much sooner than any other public transport.
Perhaps they understood the situation so they agreed to Adhi’s help.
Ok. But my car?
Saran asked instantly.
Adhira pointed him towards the garage a little ahead.
Saran was surprised, Ohh! I didn’t see it before.
It happens,
Adhira said with a smile.
Both of them dropped the car at the garage and returned to Adhi’s car.
The feeling was very awkward for Adhira, meeting her old friends like strangers. It was fine with everyone else but with Anirudh it was a little odd. But giving them lift was her idea so she didn’t think much about it and tried to behave as normal as possible.
After so many days Adhi was feeling very good. The past 3 months had been very hectic. Her routine included traveling and only travelling from Studio to Meerut and from Meerut to Delhi almost every day.
She had to come to Meerut regularly to teach keyboard and give singing lessons to her NGO kids. She also gave management trainings to the new employees in her former office where she used to work before starting her own studio. Like I mentioned earlier, Adhira valued her relationships a lot. Even after resigning from her old job, she kept helping them for the sake of friendship. Thankfully it was her last class for the group and she would not need to go there for some time. She raised both her hands in the air and felt the fresh breeze on her face and let all her stress be swept away in the wind. She felt there was magic in the air that day.
Everyone got into the car and Adhi started to drive. Anirudh was sitting next to her which surprised her. It happened many times that they both came face to face but avoided each other. They never talked. Adhira didn’t like people who sat silently in the car and made everyone else silent too. She was definitely upset because she knew they would not be talking. There was a deep silence between the two of them. Once there was a lot between Anirudh and Adhira but then silence took over all the words.
She watched him furtively. He had changed a lot. Adhira was shocked to see his languished face with no smile at all. It was about 3 years ago when Adhira had seen him last at his office where she had gone for some work. Since then so much had changed in him. There was so much brightness on his face then. It made Adhira want to ask about him; instead she kept silent because now she didn’t have the right to do so. Adhira knew him well. Her life very closely passed through his life.
Adhira was lost in her thoughts when she got a call. The sound dragged her out of his thoughts and into her present. It was her mother on the phone.
Hello Mum, what’s up? How are you?
I am good. What about you? Where are you?
I am on my way to the airport.
Are you going out of station?
Naah, just going to drop one of my old friends at the airport.
"You had your fast today, na! Have you eaten anything yet?"
Adhi realized she had not eaten anything since morning but she could not tell the truth to her mother.
Ya, kind of.
Don’t lie to me, Adhi.
I am not lying. I had a little bit of something. I am going to Riddhi’s house. I’ll eat there.
Ok then. Take care.
Mum listen, I’ll call you later. Neeti is on the other line.
Bye.
She picked up the other call. Neeti was Adhira’s p.a. cum secretary cum manager cum everything. Adhi completely relied on her in terms of her studio. Generally, when Adhi was not available in the studio, Neeti represented her. And presently Adhi was not visiting the studio regularly.
There’s a problem,
Neeti said in a tensed voice.
When Neeti was tensed, she even forgot to greet.
Neeti, relax! Take a deep breath and tell me everything.
Adhi, there is a major problem in our main DAW.
And what’s that?
I think some software related issue.
Ok! So call the mechanic, Neeti. Why are you calling me?
I know what to do, Adhi! But the thing is the mechanic will come tomorrow and we have a major recording today in about an hour.
Oh! What sort of recording?
Song recording and that too Shikhar sir’s.
Shikhar is recording in our studio! Why? Why is he not recording in his own?
Aaaddiii, please. I don’t know anything about this. I just want some solution.
Ok, tell him to use my workstation.
Are you sure?
Neeti was surprised to hear her boss give permission to use her own workstation. She never allowed anybody near it.
Yes baby, but only him and nobody else.
Yes Ma’am. I know very well. But what shall I say if he asks about this change?
I’ll talk to him for that. You don’t worry. He will not mind it. And if any other recording is scheduled, arrange it in other rooms. I will come tomorrow to see what we can do. Ok then, bye.
She hung up the call and was about to dial Shikhar’s number but coincidently saw his name flashing on her phone. He had beaten her at the job.
Hey there, I was about to dial your number,
said Adhi.
I hope I didn’t dial a wrong number?
Shikhar joked.
Hahaha, don’t get confused. It’s only me.
Why were you calling me?
First you tell!
Nothing much. I just wanted to know whether you were in the studio or not?
No, I am on my way to the airport.
Escaping somewhere?
Shikhar teased Adhi.
Not yet. Just going to drop my friend.
"Oh! Actually I’m here in Delhi and about to
