A professionally qualified Scottish Tourist Guide for over 15 years, I wanted to allow visitors to Scotland to take me on tour with them but not have to pay for a private tour guide. So I came up with the idea of the 'Self-Drive Touring Guide' series of books which anyone can download and take away on their holiday/vacation to Scotland. Unlike other guide books I provide not only the history but the folklores and legends along the route to give you the full Scottish experience. Directions and handy hints also help you to make the most of the journey.

Mini Kilt Tours Self-Drive Touring Guide Stirling to Fort William via Glencoe - Andrea Middleton
Deanston Distillery is built in an old cotton weaving mill that brought the town prosperity in the Industrial Age. The distillery ceased production in 1982 for 8 years until it was bought in 1990 by Burns Stewart Distillers Limited. The new visitor centre that opened in 2012 will inform and fascinate you of the history of whisky as well as going through the process of whisky making. It also tells of the cotton industry in the area.
Tours can be made of the distillery for a small fee but the gift shop and cafe are open to everyone.
The distillery recently featured in the film ‘The Angels Share’.

Doune was a town where Highland cattle drovers would arrange to meet before heading south into the lowlands to reach the big cattle markets at Falkirk and Carlisle. However, the Highlanders and Lowlanders were suspicious of each other. They spoke a different language from each other and had a different culture. This meant they found it difficult to understand each other. So Highlanders would arrange to meet here, just into the Lowlands, to travel south together, safety in numbers. So this is where the saying comes from, they would arrange to meet "Armed to the
