Melina Turner
Hi I'm Melina Turner and live in Australia with the rest of my family, in a little town called Gympie.I began my writing at an extremely young age starting in primary school in year 3 when I heard about Write4Fun, a school writing competition. My first poem was called "Wild Brumbies" published in 2003 when I was in year 3.I soon after moved from Nambour to Gympie, an hour away. Where I was influenced by an amazing English teacher to continue writing. In 2005 when I was in year 5 I was awarded "Honoured Writer" for my poetry in which I continued and still do.In 2013 I was awarded, "Best Poet Of 2012"and put into a poet book that is now in the Library Of Congress. After I began poetry I soon wanted to branch out thus starting in 2003/2005 The Deathly-Roses Volumes a flash fiction prose-narrative piece that "Volume 1 and 2" will be published 2013.I then gapped it out and wrote the 2nd Volume in 2007. The third will be written this year. My goal with these books was to make it short and poetic-like to gain non-readers interest and I believe I have done that.As of then 2012 I slowly branched out and started helping co-author for Timothy Mitchell Films. Helping with scripts for movies. Now, I will be collaborating with many amazing authors and getting myself out there more. Writing all and any genre and different types of writing. As well as my new goal to publish a piece of my writing a month

Pieces Of Mel Poetry Collection 1 - Melina Turner
Wild Brumby (2003)
First piece I ever published in 2003.
Prancing and frolicking around the meadows
Sniffing the air for danger
Always on the lookout
Galloping free without any cares
Looking out for my yearlings with a watchful eye
Wild and untamed I will always be
No saddle or bridle for me
I will run like the wind till the end of my days
And I will lay to rest under the light of the beautiful yellow moon.
A Dragons Wish (2004)
I wish I could do anything,
A dragon couldn’t do.
I’d race the stars,
That shine so bright.
That’s not the best that I can do.
I would never cause a fear,
Well I thought that anyway.
I wish I was the Almighty One,
With scales all rich with gold.
I’d teach the rest a thing or two,
So I can be the bold.
Now I have all wishes,
To let yours come true.
For every person who wishes one,
I’ll grant it all night through.
Wild Brumby (Part 2) (2005)
The second piece I ever published and won ‘honoured writer’ for.
A silver brumby looking for food,
For the little foal who’s hungry.
No one can catch her, you see,
All they do is eat and run wild and free.
They may run for their safety,
But they are not enemies.
It is quite a pretty sight,
To see a lot of brumbies.
Free (2006)
He rides for freedom in the land,
Searching high and low for the pack.
Wild will he always be,
A horse that’s coat is black.
His movements are so graceful,
While he finds his herd,
And eats a grassy treat.
Now he has found his herd,
With wild glee.
He neighs and whinnies,
To the herd.
The most beautiful free beast,
You will see.
A Home (2007)
By Melina Turner
Home is where the heart lives, they say,
Some think that is but few.
Home is where the grass is greener,
Some are just too blue.
I think home is where your friends and family are,
Now that is something true.
Haunted Emotions (2008)
I don’t smile,
I’m neutral.
Hated and friendly.
I’m not sane,
I’m insane.
Crazy and annoying.
I don’t lie,
I don’t have reasons.
I don’t want reasons.
I do remember,
I am haunted.
Forever.
Love (2008)
Cupid’s,
Arrows.
Loving you,
Is easy.
You are,
The one for me.
I want to share,
My world with you.
Smiles,
And the tears.
You are,
Very special to me.
I want to feel,
Love in my life.
And I want it,
To be from you.
A Brilliant Love (2009)
A hammering heart,
A broken rhythm.
A gaze of the unknown,
That’s always hidden.
A beautiful soul,
A brilliant mind.
A brilliant love,
That’s one of a kind.
A Heart (2009)
A heart so pure,
A soul divine.
Only when evil knocks,
Shall they lock the door.
When seeking,
Hide the evidence.
And the key,
To all past events.
Are cherished,
To only a few.
Moon (2009)
Co-written with Tiarne Witt
The moon tonight
So big, so bright, so silent
I wonder what the moon
Would say, if only it could talk,
Would it tell us all the things
That we’ve done wrong
How Can (2009)
How can a secret be a secret?
If someone knows it.
How can a heart be a heart?
When no-one owns it.
How can a life be a life?
When it can also die.
How can a change be a change?
When you can’t show it.
How can an expression be an expression?
When someone can’t read it.
How can love be love?
When there’s no-one to share it.
How can a heartbreak be a heartbreak?
If there’s no-one there to break it.
How can a story be a story?
Without an ending.
How can hatred be hatred?
If there’s no-one to hate.
How can a smile be a smile?
If it’s not real.
How can a future be a future?
If there’s no fate.
How can a song be a song?
If no-one sings it.
How can beauty be beauty?
If one calls themselves ugly.
How can an angel be an angel?
If there’s no heaven.
