      Introduction:

      You have probably read the books, seen the movies, and even bought merchandise of our young favorite wizard from Hogwarts (alright, I know it’s the school of witchcraft and wizardry and not a place that can be found on a map), but have you considered learning how to draw Harry Potter in pencil or in any art mediums? This eBook is all about learning to draw Harry Potter, so before we begin, let me congratulate you for picking up this eBook! I’m going to teach you how to draw Harry from a cartoon to other forms of art work; pencils, charcoal, pastels, watercolor, and even airbrush. Yes, you read right.

      So what do you need to learn these artworks? I listed the things you need in the materials section, and they can all be found in any art stores or art suppliers. Visit them and check for the availability of the materials. It is also nice to make friends with your art supplier, as they would be happy to assist you in finding the things that you need, and may even give you a call if the materials are in stock or available.

      Dedicate by reading and practicing all the exercises in each section of art mediums. Set a good time for you to work alone and focus on drawing and soon you will be a true versatile artist, not just drawing Harry Potter. You can use this method when drawing other people’s faces, and even the faces of your love ones, parents, relatives, friends, and neighbors. So have fun drawing Harry Potter and let him inspire you magically.

      How to draw a Cartoon Harry Potter:

      Steps:

      1. Draw an oblong.

      2. Draw lines, one horizontal and the other vertical, in the middle of the oblong (cross-hair). This will be our guide when drawing the features.

      3. Draw two oblongs on the horizontal line; this will be the eyes.

      4. Draw two lines for the nose and the mouth (wider than the nose) on the lower vertical line.

      5. Draw the ear, by drawing a small oblong on both sides.

      6. Finish the eye by drawing an Iris and pupil. Do the same to the other eye, and also draw two horizontal lines for the neck.

      7. Draw the eyebrows (it’s a half oblong shape).

      8. Draw a guide for the Hair by drawing a half oblong over the head, and don’t forget to draw the hairline.

      9. Erase the guides and finish the rest of the details on the face: Scar on the forehead (which is Harry’s trademark), Glasses, nose and lower lip.

      - Fill the head, using the hair strokes below.

      - See how easy it is to draw a cartoon version of Harry?

      Below are the side view and ¾ view of Harry. Study and draw these different views.

      Drawing Harry’s Body:

      Let’s draw the full body of Harry Potter, with a good proportion, using the head size as our means of measurement. We are going to draw him with his teenage body, so let’s use 5 heads, a quarter for the neck and another quarter as he is wearing shoes.

      - Let’s start drawing using stick figures for the standing pose; I also included the side view.

      - Draw the framework using the basic shapes: Spheres (shoulders and joints), Cube (torso and hip), and Cylinders (arms and legs).

      - Erase the guidelines and flesh out Harry’s body. Refine the body parts.

      - Add and finish the details: Follow our example below, as we aren’t focused on the muscularity of Harry (but it’s good to know how to give muscles to the body’s framework), because he will be wearing his wizard uniform.

      - Add color to your drawing, to make it vibrant and alive, using your colored pens.

      Drawing Harry in different poses:

      Below are various poses for Harry using stick figures. You can make your own by drawing some samples, then choose the best pose. Remember the actions that are more dramatic or ones that emphasize force are good poses, but you have to flesh it out to see for yourself.

      To demonstrate:

      - Below is a sample of a stick figure with a good pose.

      - Add basic shapes to build the framework.

      - Add necessary details: Clothes or costumes, facial features, and accessories: glasses and magic wands.

      - Add color to your drawing, and some effects …Magic dust.

      Now it’s your turn to create the magic using the method we just learned. Below are exercises for you to practice and I included the guide below to make it easy for you.

      How to Draw a Cartoon Horse:

      Steps:

      1. Draw a long bean or hotdog shape.

      2. Next is to draw some basic shapes, just as you see below. Use a cube or rectangle on the face, mane, and tail, and a cone or triangular shape for the legs, neck, ears, and the hooves as well.

      3. Next, draw your guidelines. On the snout and the mane, draw a less than sign. Draw a cutting line on the eye and on the tail draw a curve that will later form a tail.

      4. Erase the unwanted lines.

      5. Add details on the horse features such as the cheek, a smiling lip, the mane, the ears, tail, knees, and hooves.

      It’s Easy right? Below is a modified version of a horse, with tone and a cast shadow on the other side.
