About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Emotional Healing are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.

In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of Nehemiah and Esther. They are: The mockers; Fear and the mind; The arrow of discouragement; and Anger.

Excerpts:

The mockers

“Mockery is psychological warfare and a manifestation of rejection. You must recognise it as such when it is directed at you and not succumb to it, not allowing it to demoralise you, or change our stance on the truth. Job’s wife mocked his commitment to God despite the disasters that befell him (Job 2:9), but he was steadfast. Mockers want to shake you away from your confident stance on truth. Some specialise in mocking your spiritual beliefs. Don’t yield to them.”

Fear and the mind

“When God called Jeremiah to be a Prophet (Jeremiah 1:1-8), he told him that He would be with him and that he should not be afraid of the faces of the people, because fear has a way of preventing you from doing the will of God.”

The arrow of discouragement

“What God had the Israelites do when bitten by snakes was to look not at the snake but to look at a brazen snake hung on a stake which according to Jesus was a type of himself. Therefore look to him the poison of depression does not stand a chance.”

Anger

“In the letters of Paul to the Corinthian and Galatian church, he used angry tones, at the kind of bad moral and spiritual turn the churches were taking. In the letter that Jesus sent to the seven churches the tone was mostly not “fluffy and all goody-goody (Revelation 2-3),” he used the tone of a disciplinarian, not a letter for the weak-hearted. He spoke as the lion of the tribe of Judah. If you only expect a God that has only sweet words for you, then you are mistaken.”
