About this ebook

This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Life in the Spirit are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore seven topics, from different verses in the books of Jeremiah, Lamentation and Ezekiel. They are: Hearing from God; The purpose of fire; The presence of God dissolves fear; ‘The hand of the Lord fell on me’; Coming to life; The Spirit; and River.
Excerpts:
Hearing from God
“Understand that the purpose of God is to fulfil the destiny of Jesus, as we are told that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy: the spirit of speaking forth the mind of God to affirm the Lordship of Christ (1Corinthians 12:1-3) and nothing else.”
The purpose of fire
“But you ask, what about Christians, even pastors, who fall into adultery? I don’t have all the answers, but I guess if they had read a piece like this; they would have realised that they don’t have to be a victim of the spirit of lust through the fire of the Holy Spirit and maybe it would not have happened.”
The presence of God dissolves fear
“Lastly, Paul introduces Timothy to the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of sound mind i.e. sound perception. A perception that mimics that of Christ himself, as it is written, we have the mind of Christ (1Corinthians 2:15-16). The way you perceive or analyse events could either open the heart to fear or to faith. But we have the spiritual equipment in the spirit of sound mind that is, the Holy Spirit colouring our thinking and making it possible for us to be unhindered, have our thinking uncluttered, by the spirit of fear; with the spirit of sound mind fully operational in us, empowering us to think like God would, so that when our thoughts are his thoughts out ways can be his ways (Isaiah 55:6-9, 2:3).”

‘The hand of the Lord fell on me’
“Jesus said that we shall receive power after the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) (the hand of the Lord) shall come upon us, that power is expressed unusual abilities (supernatural doing experiences).”
Coming to life
“Jesus is the answer to all our needs. He straddles earth and heaven said after the resurrection that all power in heaven and on earth is given to him (Matthew 28:18-20), and he gave the believers to go into all the world to help others to believe in him. Once they shift over to the channel of faith in him, they come alive.”
The Spirit
“Salvation is the celebration of the work of Jesus, initiation into the name of Jesus, becoming a member of the household of God, while the Holy Ghost baptism is an initiation into the works of the Holy Spirit. “Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit’s work is to manifest Jesus, and he does that in a more intently as we experience his baptism.”
River
“Life is the transformation that comes to us, power is the transformation that we help others to get, and movement is about the two going on and on according to the purpose for God.”
